I got the parts for the 757 model from Norbert Rauch. Here are the glass parts you get, plu a drwaing and templates for the foam parts. The quality of the glass parts is excellent. They are a bit pricey for what you get, but that's mainly because of the shipping costs and the strength of the Euro vs. the USD [&o]
Now there's a lot of engineering to do, but first, we're going to make a plug to pull a composite center fuselage section...

Hi Bob
Good to see you are getting into the airliners.
I am building my second Rauch airliner, the B727-200.
I will use a single turbine (engine #2).
Good luck with yours,
Regards
Peter

Hi Bob
I had the foam cut for me this time by Mabfred. I can email you his details.
On the A321, the retracts were Robarts, wheels and brakes were Intairco.
On the B727, I will use Behotec C36 retracts, struts, wheels and brakes.
Regards

There is a guy here locally named Tony De leo. I think he operates under TDL models. I know he cuts the wings and fuses for some of Rauch's kits. I'm sure he has the foam too.

I got my gear from HAWE, he makes all of the gear for the 1/16 scale Rauch airliners. They are really nice, work smooth, and heavy duty. You can contact him through Mr. Rauch's website, and expect to take a day or two for an answer, he does not speak English, and his girlfriend/wife translated for him. Got the gear in about four weeks.
I also have the 727 parts, like Peter, and also have Peter's Airbus (twin Wren 44's).

I've long wanted to do the DC-8, 757 or 727 from Rauch. I may consider the 727 at some point. Is the the number 2 inlet on the Rauch parts representative of the -100 series, or the -200 series? The -100 had an oval inlet. The -200 was the longer fuse and the circular number 2 inlet. The pics almost make me think it looks circular but I can't quite make it out.
I imagine the 757 will be more than adequately powered with the 120 mm fans. Keep us posted on the progress please.

If I remember correctly I did a search for HAWE and found a website that had an email adress. I will look for it and see it I can find it for you.
Tommy
The inlet on the #2 is sort of oblongish...LOL. I know the plans (or drawings) show the measurement to do the 100 or the 200 series. There is also a duct which Norbert sells (S shaped) to route the #2 inlet down to the engine location.
Try this one......http://www.hawe-modellbau.de/

Hey Guys
The guys that cut the foam for people, do the cut the foam in squar for you to shape or do they cut the shape that you need such as the fuse or wings. I have been wanting a 757 but dont think I could shape the fuse or wings to were it will look good and even.

David,
They will cut the shape for you. I used Koster (Rauch's website) since it was cheaper to get it from him shipped, than anywhere else I could find in the US. THe fuselage is cut, a big foam tube, as well as the sections of wing and tail. The plans from Mr. Rauch are really not much more than a set of drawings which show the dimensions, CG location, and critical locations such as LG mounts. Most everything else (plumbing, servo locations, etc) are left to the builder. This is not really a kit, but a base of which to build a large airliner. He will answer your questions, and the history behind these is such that they fly great and look so wonderful in the air.

Props,
Peter and I are both working on a Rauch 727, which is 1:16 scale. I can't speak for Peter but I am using at least a 20 pound thrust turbine in my airliner, possibly a T-750 (24 pounds). The AUW should be around 25-27 pounds dry by the time you balance the nose. WIth all the weight in the tail and the full flying stab it will need some wieght to balance it. I have a framed up one that is beginning to look like a 727, I am to the wings now, which BTW there appears to be an error in the plan sheet for the placement of the retracts. If you use the figure that is on the sheet the units will not fit, they need to be moved forward approximately 10 cm, but other than that everything so far has been pretty straightforward.

I estimate Kranz' 727 is also about 1/16th scale, atleast the fuselage. The wing seems to be much bigger.
But you can't say that those planes are scale-like.

Kranz does not make kits anymore

Well guys I finally bought my first RC model kit after 14 months of health related issues.
Its Kranz B727-200 kit. It does need fixing of the nose section and the tail section to make them more scale. As for the wings I guess I could clip them a bit if I decided to install turbine instead of 2X 90sz engines. I will try to post pictures soon of it.
I am wondering if I could cut of original nose and replace it with Norbart's B727 nose!. Is there anyone who has done this conversion already?.
