We've added on... and you're invited to help christen our new jet friendly 600'x30' concrete runway!!! Since this is our first jet rally, we've been quietly planning with regional pilots a bit under the "radar" for this non-sanctioned "fun fly" event. Posting on RCU to help make sure all the questions are answered and to help with roll call.
Buccaneer Jet Rally is being hosted by Brazoria County Modelers in Oyster Creek, TX. We're near the Gulf coast... about an hour south of Houston. We'll be flying Friday thru Sunday (Oct 5-7) 10am to dusk.
Field GPS Coordinates :
N 29.03055 , W 095.32839
Details are included in the attached flyer.
Club details: www.brazoriacountyrc.com

How far is it from 610 and Westheimer?
Looks like you are gonna have one helluv an event!
Always the best,

Bob - got you covered.
Friday - Lunch for the pilots will be from a local eatery. Probably pizza or calzones. Homemade brownies!!! We'll work out a dinner game plan amongst the pilots that have arrived (seafood, mexican, Chili's, Carino's, ???)
Saturday - Our members will be out in force to help with the cooking and concessions. Pilots lunch is included for Saturday also. Menu at this point is hot dogs, sausages, chips, soft drink. We're still evaluating Saturday's dinner plan depending on pilot count, # staying for dinner, etc.
We'll follow the typical jet meet agenda. Friday will be a bit informal as folks arrive and get settled in. On Saturday... we'll kick off with a pilot's meeting at 10:00am... fly... take a break around 12:30 to line up the planes on the runway for the spectators... then fly-fly-fly again til dark.

Great job to Bob Brubaker and club members of the Brazoria County RC Modellers for their first jet fly! Due to another full-scale airshow scheduled on the same weekend, and weather forecasts being a bit questionable, attendance was light, but there was almost always someone flying a jet at all times. Here are some pics from the Saturday spectator lineup.

Since I late Saturday, I got to drive in a bunch of rain. I did get this pic though, heading into Houston. I just put the camera on the dash while driving, watched the viewfinder, and pushed the button. At the end of a rainbow, you find -- (dramatic pause) a dump truck!

thanks for the info. good looking bird. Got a phone number for Don Yockey? I might have a project for him.
I would've gone to the Buc jet event but I had just returned from 2 weeks of working out of town.
I think there might be another waco get together soon, hope to see you there.
cheers

To Bob Brubaker and his Team,
you guys did a great job with this event and I had a great time.
I am sure that you will have better attendance next year once we work out the scheduling issues. I love the field layout at your site and the overfly area is unrivaled in the Houston area. Let me know when you want to have your next event and I will be there !!!!!!!!!!!![8D]

Had a great time and enjoyed the flying site. The club members treated us well and were very accommidating. Will be back next time if it's not scheduled on top of Georgia Jets.
