After months of waiting I finally got my hands on a 80+ today. Wow what a compact turbine this is. Smaller version of the 160 that I have been using for the past year ( With all the features ) I had the chance to fly a preproduction unit last month and was mightily impressed with the way it pushed a composite Bobcat around. Wish I could keep this one for myself, but customers come first, and in the cased of this little gem there are plenty on the list that want to get hold of this new turbine. Next turbines are due in a week or so.
Thanks to Adam Birmingham my Graupner rep for his amazing customer service with this.

same as the supersport[:-]

One thing that is a little confusing is the thrust is quoted at between 60N and 85N...
Quote for the Booster 80 from the Graupner website.
Thrust: 60 N - 85 N
Weight: 960 g
Diameter: 89 mm
Length incl. starter: 239 mm
Rotor speed: 45,000 - 155,000 rpm
Fuel consumption: 290 ml / min

It depends who's on the GSU...;-)
Rider-60
The motors I have weigh 980 grams. But length is less at 232mm...! dia is 90mm on the main case but the front section is larger at 93.5mm

if they sell it with this rated output they can NEVER go wrong.
smart thinking..
saves them lots of arguments that show up on forums like this...

Sandor,
exactly! if you get one then you can expect it's power to be somewhere between 4N less than a Wren Mk3 but if you are lucky, very lucky it will be 4N more than a Wren Supersport. I think I will stick with my Supersport.

I talked to the guy that makes them for Graupner at JetPower. He told me that the delay was cause the engine didn´t leave the thrust that he wanted. But now he promised me that all engines should leave 80+ and that they had tuned all the way over 10kg but that where no safe!.
So if it leaves 6.5kg when I get mine it just goes with the postman to Germany again.

you can not send it back
simply because it states : 60-85N..
like i said smart..
but i have seen them perform at jetpower , enough thrust i must admit.
Kerostart on board with a 7,4 volt keroplug , my guess is you NEED a lipo to start it a 6 cell wont do?

Who would buy an engine sold as a "80" knowing that if it did produce only 60N then theres nothing you can do because its "within the specification" Not me, thats for sure. I recon someone needs to have a re-think on the advertising on this one.

The engine comes with a 2500 Li-Lo pack, so why would someone change to Ni?

you understood wrong
they use a 7,4 volt burner as i was told , so you CANT use ni .
so lipo,s or lilo,s would be needed.
how many volts is that lilo?
you will be testing it ? together with the ifs on board?

Hi Sandor
I might sell caravans but I can assure you that I don't and never will live in a caravan. I am a class bloke and only stay in top notch lodgings. Thats why I am booked in the Green Gables Motel for the Florida International Jet Rally this year.[X(]

It's a 7.4v Li-Lo...when flat.
I test all products we sell...
The IFS will go in my standard radio checking 1/4 midgit pylon model for vibration and speed...if it doesn't work we will soon know
Best Regards

Wow!
didn't know that the 130 comes with a radial for free!
Ali, any hot deals like that with the 80+
.
I am waiting for our G-80, the Grumania P-59 is waiting for that engine. But I will have my hands on a prototype G-80 in november to attend the Wangaratta jet-meeting in OZ.

Guys
I thought people were joking about the thrust...seems people took it seriously.
The range of thrust is customer adjustable from 80N down to 65N...but all will make 80...
regards
Dave
