Default Help with fuel filter

I see from another new post that DuBro seems to be the preferred stoper, need help with the fuel filters.

I have a DuBro no. 340 filter that is all aluminum except for the gasket but not sure about using it for gas, also have DuBro no. 162 also all aluminum except for the gasket, neither says if they are ok for gas on the package, wonder if they are ok to use, maybe there is a more preferred filter? Engine is a 70 CC.

Also need to replace tank stopper and I know there was some discussion as to who made the better one for gas, could someone please comment as to which is the preferred, think the choices were DuBro or Sullivan.

Thanks,

WRK

You'll want something with a finer screen for gas. I use a paper filter from the local small engine shop on the airplane and on the filler line.

See the thread "Brass clunks in gas fuel" on this page. All you need to know about a good filter is there.

The filtered clunk that Pat is pointing you towards works very well.

As far as stoppers, the reddish brown DuBro one seems to be the long term favorite for gas. The older Sullivan gas stoppers were known to go to pieces in gas ... not good. I've recently had problems with (2) Sullivan white stoppers in glo applications. They shrank up like prunes over the winter! Sullivan does have a new stopper on the market that is suppose to be made from a new material good for both gas and glo fuel. I have never used one thought so can't comment on how good it is. The DuBro stoppers are one of those products that just works well so that continues to be my choice.

.....or consider going with a tank that has a screw on cap, no stopper to mess with at all. The felt type filter clunks work great!

If you use a felt filtered clunk on the pickup line in your fuel jug, and one as the clunk on your tank's feed line to the carb there is no need for an inline filter to the carb like we use on our glow engines.
