I have two different sets of plans for a 1930's/40's 1/5 scale Henschel Hs 123 (biplane dive bomber, close support aircraft). One plan call for "an appropriate" engine. The other calls out an OPS 60cc twin. I understand the OPS 60 Twin Maxi (an Italian engine, 1980's vintage) is no longer available. What would be the modern day equivalent ? As you might suspect, I am not an "engine person". Thanks.

Hi.
The G-62 is a good engine, but lots more power than the Maxi 60. The 3W 50 or 70, Roto 70 twin, Fuji 50EI, First Place 3.2, Brison 3.2, Taurus 42, also probably even a Zenoah G-45 would work OK. Also the BrillElli engines are good ones. Then there is the DL 50 and the new SV 50 from RC Showcase. So many good choices now!
You see, it depends on the WS/Weight of acft. Any of the quoted engines will fly a 18-25lb. Biplane w/o problem at a scale speed with enough reserve power for emergencies. Also, there are many of these same engines avail. here on RC Universe as well at very good prices. But, make sure you don't put in too much engine (= weight) that will increase the wing loading and subsequent landing speeds. You want good power, but not too much engine/weight.
So, good luck with your project, and hope your flying days are CAVU.

Hi Ken,
Thank you very much for your recommendations I'll certainly look into these engines now that I know about them.
