Default Cleaning up and restarting old engine

I have an "El Bandito" that I have with what I think is a Quadra 85? in it.
I have not flown it for about 6-8 years I think. It was barely through it's 3rd flight when I put it away.
What do I do about cleaning it out and restarting it?
Do I need to pull the carb and soak it or clean it?
Any advice?

Don't really do anything, re-plumb the gas tank, etc. Put fuel in it, prime the carb with a squirt or two of fuel and have at it. If she runs fine have a ball, if not, then buy a carb re-build kit. I once had an old gasser just like yours and didn't have to touch anything to make it run right after 5 years.
