I'm still flying my 29% Katana with the new Area 51 engine. I have used Vess 22A, Xoar 22x8, and currently swinging a Troy Built Models 22x8. TBM sells their props for $17 a piece, and they will drill them for $7. This is convienent for me as I don't have a drill press. I am still very impressed with my engine. It is off of the break-in fuel, I'm running Amsoil now. I buy small packets from a friend ([email protected]; www.lubedealer.com/dbcox #1568374) that you mix with one gallon of gasoline. It comes out to be 85.3:1 ratio. My idle is smoother, and the transition from idle to full power is smoother. Also, no more "skipping and popping" in the air at half throttle. Take-offs are 50% throttle, hovers at 75%. This weekend I'm going to put a tach on the prop, I may go up to a 23x8. My old AeroWorks 29% Katana S is a porker at 19 lbs, too! She's sturdy though, all my landing haven't been smooth, and no damage. Furthermore, MILTON has been great to me. He has always been there to help, no questions asked. He has always made it right. I recommend MILTON and the Area 51! I'll get pics on here as soon as I figure out how to get Kodak EasyShare to put the pics in My Documents/Pictures.

That TBM 22x8 will put a frown on you face when you tack it. My 366 Brillelli only turned it 6630 rpm, I put a Vess22A I got 7300 rpm. The TBM actually wasn't terrible in the air though not as good as the other props I tried.

Right you are soarrich, I think they are heavier than the other props. Vess props are excellent with reputable acceleration, however, they are not very robust. They can't take any prop strikes, even in the dirt. I will be back on a Vess when I become 100% proficient with my landings. Thanks for the post, happy flying!

I've also started glassing the tips with 3/4oz glass and CA, it really helps.

Thanks for the kind words and comments,
I know that you have been running it for over three months now and having a blast,
There are more great things coming form RC Extreme Power and JC engines, Our 102cc twin is now available and soon to have a 85cc and then the best for last is a 170cc
Thanks

They are a decent engine. I got mine out of the cupboard and will have it installed and flying soon. Cant remember where to set the needles but take them out 1& 3/4 turns and start from there. My favorite 50cc prop is the Hawk 22x8, it lets the motor revwhich is how most 50cc make their power. It has pullout as good as the vess23A without the noise and is flyable like a mejzlik 23x8.
