Default crrc 45 flew the coop

Dang i've had THE WORSE luck this year and most of last. While trying out my sig brietling w/crrc 45 pro i heard a pop and watched the airframe do the coolest flat fall to the ground which is way down in a valley complete with briars woods and even a real nice swamp.I had just reinforced the firewall with dowels that ran back to the inner formers. I also cured the rich running condition with a vent tube off carb ran into the fuse, which really made it run great. Anyways wish me luck as i plan to take my son with both of us using binoculars and walkie talikes and even a metal detector (for the engine) this evening and go back and look again.[]

Also wear some heavy duty knee high boots as there could be some serious snakes to deal with. [X(]

There are some easy to use programs to download your video, and reuse the camera. You just have to do a search for them.

Well guy's i finally found her. Did'nt get to use vid/plane due to aircraft problems. i just keptup looking in the area i thought it ought to be and lo and behold i FINALLY caught a glimpse of her. It was in a tree upside down almost totally unscathed. I retrieved the plane , but have'nt yet found motor. The firewall definately let go with a baseball size hole in the center. My prop was ballanced and she ran smoothly. I also had dowel rods reinforceing the 4 corners of firewall. i can only guess but she had too many holes drilled in firewall from previous owner as it appears to have broken away in line with those holes (kind of like connect the dots) Anyways i hope everyone benifits from my experiance.I plan to go back with a gps and metal detector so if i don't find motor i can at least mark crash site on gps so when foilage dies down some i could try again.

Rambo,

Just a thought, if the plane was relatively unscathed, is it possible that the engine fell off it flight? Without the weight of the engine on the airframe, there would be less damage. If it did indeed fall off in flight, maybe you should retrace the flight path looking for the engine.

Good Luck
Chuck
