I have a Duratrax Maximum ST truck that is completely box stock. This summer I am going to tear it down completely and buy every hop up part I can from Duratrax and then I'm movin on to parts from other manufactures. Among the many hop ups I'm buying are andolized hub carriers, suspension arms, shock bodies, chassis, radio plate and then I'm gonna buy some Pro-Line street tires and chrome wheels. Then I'm gonna light the whole thing up with a body lighting kit, headlights, taillights, foglights, and and antennae light from rcneon.com
Last but not least I am bolting on my favorite hop up of all. I'm taking the TORQ .16 out and strapping in a 2003 series Fantom .15 with a 2-speed conversion kit and a chrome 2-chambered pipe.
This baby's gonna fly!! I know I could have saved a whole lotta money by buying a kit car and putting in my own stuff, but I already had this truck and I love Duratrax. I'll post some pics when I'm finished.

hock that maximum and buy a traxxas/team assoc./ofna truck and hop one of those up. it will be less expensive in parts and a truck that others will drool over.

packfan - I am planning to buy a team edition kit car/truck in the future and hopping it up. But for now I'm gonna redo this Max ST and see what happens. You won't even be able to tell its a Duratrax after I'm finished with it!! haha j/k

Sounds like you have a nice project in mind, but one thing you should do before the engine swap is find better tranny gears, that Fantom will strip it in a heart beat.

Yeah, I know I need to get better gears but where can I find them? I'm not to familiar with racing engines and having to find clutches and gears for them. Any help would be great. Thanks

I am. I decided to scrap the idea of hopping up my Max ST and buy a Team Losi XXX-NT truck and get the Fantom .15 for it.

Much better idea. My first comment was said out of experience. I had a Max ST pro. I put an OS .15 cv-rx in it, and all I did was burn clutches and strip gears. Your money is better spent on the Losi or an RC10GT. I am not knocking Duratrax trucks here, just saying that they fit well in thier niche, as fun little entry level and backyard bashers. the XXX-NT is a great truck. Hop it up to your hearts content!!
Just make sure you stay on top of that ball diff!

Airwethead,
Why were you burning clutches and gears? Duratrax says the gears and tranny should be able to handle the CV-RX.
I am planning on pputting this engine in my ST Pro soon, so if I need a different motor let me know. I can't sell the truck, so I need options on other motors.
