So I got the ae starter box. It is setup for ntc3(horizantal flywheel). I changed it to start my mtx-3. But it spuin the wrong way! So afte a few seconds of thinking about what might be causing fuel
to be shooting out of my carb I realised the error I was making.
My question is this: Was I messing up my motor by running it
backwards? It was new and It did not start backwards. After
I changed it it started fine forwards and ran fine. I put 6 tanks
through it and it only quit when it ran out of fuel. But now I have
to suspect it may have been damaged? Or not?

shouldnt hurt it.
sometimes you can acually get the engine to run backwards. cars will pull starts cant because the pull start prevents this but an airplane engine can sit and run backwards for a while by running on fuel in the exhast and residual fuel in the cylinder.

Yea, Unstable is right, it should be fine. Its all just a mechanical assembly...should go forward or backwards. They actually start backwards sometimes.....kinda strange

Well that is certainly good to hear. I have put 9 tanks through it
now. The break-in instructions say not to go past half throttle
till I have put 2liters through it. But according to my calculations
that would be like 26 tanks? I am thinking that is excessive.
I broke in my last engine with closer to 8 tanks. But I think
maybe I'll wait 12-14 tanks for this one as it WAS more expensive.
Still at half throttle it is faster than my street force at full! And My word
it handles better!!!
