Default yet, another question by holdenw172

alright so, ive got a stock sc10. i determined my esc was bad, after 5 runs, so im going by a new motor and esc combo. im assuming the warranty process will take weeks, and frankley i can't wait that long. haha. so im planning on the mm 4600 sidewinder combo. 150 shipped. is this a solid setup?will i have to gear it differently to get temps down or should i be good? any opinions or advice would be appreciated. thanks

welllllll, first off, you said "mm 4600 sidewinder combo", the mm stands for Mamba Max, which is a different set up than the sidewinder. Based on the price, I'd say you're going for the sidewinder (possibly cc sidewinder 4600 (cc=castle creations)).

Either way, both systems are great. You picked wisely with the 4600, it gives better torque than the rest. You'll probably want a castle link cable to program and adjust the ESC with your computer (lots of cool stuff). I got a Mamba Max shipped to me for $175 off ebay, and the castle link is like ~$20. The MM comes with a USB port, so you don't have to buy the adapter.

Anyway, your call. I know you will have LOTS of fun with it, I just got the MM 4600 in my slash, with lipos.....it rocks, it's awesome with NiMH too, but nothing like lipos.

The video is the 4600 motor on 2s lipos.

ha ya i meant the sidewinder. but thanks, im super stoked now cause i actually just ordered it! should be here tomorrow. tell me what you think about this though- my buddy has a slash and a sc10. the combo was originally in the slash, and then we swapped it to the sc10, used the same battery, but it didn't seem as quick, im thinking its cause the gearing is different.  what do you think?

probally, either way when running the 4600 you're going to have more than enough torque through out the powerband, i've had to drop my evader so its about 3/4 of the ground in the back and a 1 1/2" off the ground up front, to have the wheelies more controlled, castle link is really great it helps a ton

If I remember the SC10 has a ball diff and the Slash has a gear diff. If that is the case then the diff in the SC10 needs to be tightened up.

Both have a gear diff.

ya they both do have a gear diff, but does the slash have more teeth, causing it to have more lowend torque? why would it be quicker in the slash?</p>
