Pretty neat, but do you think any other companies will follow with a 4x4 sc truck?

They would be stupid not to. Hopefully, they learned their lesson from the original Slash. If they wait too long to release one, they'll never catch up to Traxxas.

looks like no revo style shocks on this one though. i hopefully the price will be under $300 an maybe they came out with a better brushed motor than the titan?

And we finally have a 4x4, 1/10th, single battery truck that can handle brushless and is produced by a major player. I've only been waiting 4 years.

And what old platform with added 4x4 is this? This vehicle is all NEW.

It shares some driveline parts with the REVO. Awesome, my LHS will have those parts in stock.

I hear ya. I was hoping for a 4x4 Stampede VXL, but I think this truck will be another hit for Traxxas, as long as it's not overpriced. I'm guessing it'll be north of $350.

Wonder how long till this kills stock class racing since it will push the catagories to two or four wheel drive instead of stock slash and open.

Actually this could be Traxxas' answer to the SC10, blitz, etc., since they have de-facto control over the short-course truck class. The 2wd class was getting pretty saturated so now they have to re-invent it, the old class-of-the-month act that's been going on in this hobby for as long as anyone can remember.

i was really hoping for something new too. what happened to these companies. all they are making is new models of th cars they already have. if you were to ask me the only reason the slash was a big hit was because it was the first new idea in a while. traxxas just keeps making new cars with their new brushless systems in it and calling them new. however they arent new at all. i bet most people have brushless slashes. the only difference is 4wd

This is not a modified Slash. Look at a Slash and look at this model. Completely different. The fact that it shares electronics with other models is a moot point. Every RC company has been doing that since day 1.

Find me another 1/10th 4x4 single battery truck that can handle brushless and that I can find parts for at any LHS. This truck may bring back the 1/10th 4x4 classes of old.

It looks good. I like that they didnt just reuse the Slash chassis, but give the truck a complete overhaul. Center diff would be nice.

If you take the time to really read into the design Traxxas put into this new truck, its got alot of R&D into it. I see Traxxas trying to raise the bar in handling/set up for a race course. And just looking at the layout of the drive train, it is super efficient and light weight yet incredibly strong and built to work on (ie easy access was not a after thought).

and what do you suggest they make? they just re-defined the mini world and while they weren't "new" trucks, nothing had been made like that before. you say traxxas just puts new motors in and slaps a name on it, well they aren't putting a new name on it, they are puting the letters VXL nex to it to show that is already had the aftermarket brushless motor in it. this is saying to comsumers "hey, buy me and save in the long run" it is actually very smart of traxxas to do this.

if you think about it they already have a class for pretty much anything.

they have

2wd electric:
rustler
rustler vxl
bandit
bandit vxl
stampede
stampede vxl
slash

4wd electric:
e revo
e revo BE
e maxx
summit
slash 4x4

4wd mini:
e revo
e revo vxl
slash 4x4
slash vxl 4x4

nitro 2wd:
sport
rustler
stampede
jato
s-maxx

nitro onroad:
4-tec

nitro 4x4
t-maxx
revo
revo platinum
slayer

marine:
blast
villain EX

so really when you think about it, it is pretty outstanding that they still fin ways to make new trucks. not just one they copy from an other. if they put laydown shocks on (revo style) than everyone would say, o it's just another revo with smaller tires. they in fact over designed this truck. notice it can handle a MMM on 6s? notice the new beefy drivetrain parts. the only thing this shares with its 2wd partner are the shocks and tie rods.

I heard 400$ somewhere, which is actually good considering the old slash is 200$ and this comes with Brushless, a 7-Cell/charger, 2.4GHz, and to top it all off, it's 4WD. Might be my next. Now I just gotta get my dad's GF to get me one

Oh and many lulz at the title.. danmit!!!!!!

As a side note, when was the last time Traxxas made anything completely new, i.e. not based on an old chassis?

I like it, I like that it's a new chassis not just the slash with 4x4. Maybe I'm a little confused but I hear a lot of people complain about traxxiis re using chassis designs, doesn't everyone?

On a side note, the Slash 1/10 RTR comes with a 3300 traxxas battery and charger for $200.
