Default CONNECTOR PROTECTION - handy little mod.

Tired of your connectors getting bent back and forth until the wires start to fray right at the connector? I have found a way to stop this, it works, no more bending of the wire right at the solder...........now it bends farther out in an insulated area. Just get the big heatshrinks, cut 'em', slide 'em on (may have to stretch them just a bit first), apply heat, and presto. When they cool they offer great stabilityto a once weak area.

Do yourself a favor, make sure your wires arent already frayed a bit..................some of the strands may already be broken which would create a smaller guage wire than you originally soldered on. If so cut your wires, take a bit off and resolder. Good luck!!

or you could just grab by the plugs and not the wires. that works for all plug applications actually [sm=wink_smile.gif]

I do always grab the plugs, its the bending of the wires when they are in the vehicle......................sometimes having to plug into an esc thats at an odd angle, or when you carry your batts..................over time those joints will get bent back and forth and eventually start to break strands of wire. Its a cheap precaution that extends my wire life.

electrical might preform similarly, but leave sticky residue. I think I'll be doing this little trick on my plugs too, as I have had a few fall off in the past (from the ESC, not a battery prob yet)

they probably arent soldered correctly then, the solder should wick up the wire a little past the end of the insulation.

when metal bends back and forth over and over it breaks, so even if your soldering is pristine, wear and tear will do its deed.

That has been my experience, especially with older packs.
