Ok so, I have two Pedes one with a Co27, 19t/86t gearing stock wheel/tires. And a Method R 19 17t/90t stock wheels Masher 2k tires. Both motors run on the hot side and I was wondering if this heat sink would help out a good deal or just wind up looking cool on my motors? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXTG83&P=0

For brushed motors you use the 5-second rule, if you can put your finger on the motor for 5 seconds, it's fine, if you pull your finger away in under 5 seconds, it's too hot.
And if it's too hot, don't bother trying to cool it, gearing down is the only way. With brushed running too hot is a symptom (of overgearing), so solve the root of the problem rather than trying to cover it up. You can add the heatsink afterwards to keep things a little cooler, but don't depend on the heatsink to make a hot motor run in a 'safe' range.

5 seconds is a long time, i hold my finger on my brushless for 3 seconds and have to pull away, then i take a reading and its 160f

That's b'cos for brushless the heat tolerance is much higher, you basically have to use a temperature sensor to tell (if you can touch the motor for even a second, it's okay).

not been able to get an excat temp, I can hold my finger on there for 3 to 4 secs. Nothing to take the temp with, I just go by the "OWW HOT"" method =)~
