That's great for the guys who like a true monster truck but I'd be worried about the included nimh batteries. I don't think they would supply enough amps for the castle system but then again it's only 16.8v which should put less strain on the motor.

Nah. You just have to gear a couple teeth lower for NiMHs. But I'd be a little more concerned about those "unknown" cells.

Nice.................but i couldnt wait......built my own 9 months ago, Steel shafts all around, aluminum bulkheads and shocktowers. I love it, i run it on 6s................CRAZY!!! I wonder how much $$ this will run compared to the cost of me building my own?

I found these pics online, was talking to someone on AIM and they showed me, but my guess is RCCA, thats usually where Traxxas has these types of ads (the double page ones).

I saw this posted on the Traxxas webpage last week and then the link disappeared - I think it was either published unintentionally and pulled or intentionally as a teaser. When everyone was wondering what new vehicle Traxxas was to announce last week, I assumed it was this truck until they pulled the covers off the 4x4 Slash. Looks good to me!

The ad is in the Dec. issue of R/C Car Action Magazine. Traxxas has an enormous ad section in this issue, even bigger than usual.

Why anyone would buy an e-maxx brushless over a flux or e-revo is beyond me. If you want a "true" MT get the flux.

Man I hope they've made some durability upgrades to the 'Maxx... It'll put itself back into kit form with that kind of power in short order.

Also, Castle's stance is that you should not use Nimh with the MMM. Interesting to see if any of these ESCs start blowing.

But as has already been stated, you would have to be a serious 'Maxx nut to buy one of these over a Flux or Revo.

Unless they offer a lot of cost savings over the EBRE, I don't see how it could sell (unless they phase out the EBRE or something).

I don't know if the castle folks fully understood or know how to explain the problem, I was never able to make any sense of their proported explanation. The best I can determine it should be fine provided the battery voltage doesn't go below ~6V, causing the switching BEC to drop out, which means the microcontroller in the ESC ceases to function. If that happens, a lot of bad things can follow which lead to catastrophic failure. With two NIMH, you have a lot of leeway before you hit ~6V; the reason this warning came up before was when people were asking about running it on a single NIMH or a 2s LiPo.

Which one do you prefer overall for just bashing?

Yes at 16 volts, the motor will pull less amps. I believe the included nimhs would supply enough current for the motor. Of course, most of us have lipos anyway...just toss em in there!!!

The amps it pulls depend mostly on how it's geared and how its run, like what terrain, how harsh the acceleration, etc.

I wouldnt dare use nimhs with my MMM.....................too big a risk, not to mention terrible performance output i would imagine. Plus Castle has told me when the MMM is used with too little a power supply (amps and Volts) that it can cause a ripple effect from the batt not being able to keep the capacitors "charged" up.

doesnt look like anything new has really changed except the MMM system. from what i read just the same traxxas mumbo jumbo. hex screws, revo style this an that, sealed shafts an drive train its all stuff thats been already been on a traxxas vehicle. emaxx fans probably are going crazy but my bet is most of them have already perfected there emaxx with a MMM system in it to there own liking so i think its a totall waste not very many people are going to buy espescially since theres the new slash 4x4 out. Not very many people want to put out that kind of money. when most people buy the lower priced version first to see what is like an if its a bang they go crazy with it otherwise its just another item on the shelf. but hey traxxas people got to make a living somehow right.

Holy crap,listed price on Tower is $913.99. Would anyone actually spend that much on one R/C vehicle? Especially for a 1/10th scale?

Wow, i just checked Tower too, if that price is correct..................they will sell VERY few..................considering the Flux is 200-250 bucks less. They may have priced themselves "out of the market"

Happens every time, look Tower's price patterns as the release draws nearer for past releases...
Their price will decrease as it gets nearer to release date, if the original price is $913.99, you run it through the magic formula and get a number between $620. and $520.; go figure.

traxxas suggjested price is $629.99 the tower price is the MSRP, and it was in the 900 range for the e revo bl, the savvy Xl and flux, and probs many others hpi vorza flux... it should be cheaper than the e revo bl tho... and i wouldn't even run those batts with my 1/10 system, double tabed double weled PLEASE traxxas you guys are DUMB, you're gunna get SOOOOO SOOOO SOOOO MANY people whining at you cuz you're batteires SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
