Default Traxxas Trade Ins?

I just read an add in the newest edition of RCCA and it makes it look like Traxxas is coming out with a trade in system where you could trade in you am radio for a 2.4ghz at a discount price, xl-5/titan for a brushless 1/10 vxl, TRX 2.5 engine for 3.3, VXL 1/10 System for Mamba Monster, and a Titan 380/xl-2.5 for BL VXL 3m system. Its on pages 104-105 in RCCA. What d you think? Might be great, if the trade ins are really 50% off retail. We'll see....

wow, I looked it up and he's right. (not positive on the MMM upgrade though, didn't look too hard )
might be a good way to make a few bucks, too, send in the old crap, get new crap 1/2 off, sell it at 3/4 price, 1/4 price profit!
also....a VXL motor would be sweet to have regardless.....hmmmmmmmm.

I'd trade both my XL-5 pede's in on VXL pede's in a heart beat. I'd wind up payin full price and get one free =-)~

Its not 50% off street price, its 50% of MSRP which is always way higher.

From my RC Car Action Mag

AM to 2.4 - $100 vs $119 for tower price

old esc to VXL - $110 vs $159 tower price

old esc to MMM - $250 vs $296 tower price

old esc to VXLM - $100 vs $135 tower price

old motor to 3.3 - $110 vs $153 tower price

So if you have some old stuff laying around, its a good deal but not half off street price. However, another ground breaking idea by tower, good for customers, good for them too.

I don't think or hope that the prices in the magazine are wrong. In fine print on the bottom it says prices are subject to change. We'll only know when they officially anounce it. I think I'm only interested in the 2.4 ghz

What happens to the traded in / unwanted stuff? Does it get re-sold? If so Traxxas is really just being a middleman... if there's enough of a market for the old stuff you could do the same thing on ebay and then put that toward the purchase of new stuff. If Traxxas is just eating the old stuff and using it to boost direct sales or such, that might be a good business strategy though.

hmm, you're right DarkShadow, MSRP is way higher than the street price. Those tricky guys.
