Would be nice if they'd sell it without the VXL junk.

i would like to see a kit aswell, but the market just isnt big enough for them. rtr are the thing now and that what the majority want, so they have no need for a kit. that is why i will not buy one form them directly i am tired of pawning off electronics that nobody wants. i will just wait for a used one to come along and buy it as a roller.

The VXL motor is fine, it's their escs that aren't so hot. But for $400 an RTR brushless 4x4 is an ok price.
To compete with it there is the Tamiya Levant but they are pretty different vehicles.

they will offer a 4wd bandit, rustler and pede before to long as they love to get the most bang for their buck, although this is a new design alot of the parts are holdovers from previous models, the designer lists all the holdover parts in this months RCCA.

Tamiya kits are way over priced for what you get in my opinion and kysosho is just over priced. No matter how you look at it you will spend more money on a kit and electronics than a rtr. Just sell the electronics and put in what you want.

How is a tamiya kit overprice? They are usually in the $100 to $200 range unless you're looking at one of the 1/14 semi trucks, crawlers or TRF models. The average RCer can get a decent buggy for under $200.

it just so happens that Kyosho and Tamiya are the 'kings of scale', but definately not what i'd call pricey.
i'd never buy a kit/RTR just because my LHS only stocked them parts.. i like making my own choices, and besides, the internet is kinda useful for ordering stuff.

You might be able to get one for under $200 then you have to buy the electronics for it. Most of my LHS only stock parts for the ''Big 3'' (Traxxas, Losi and Associated) and of the other RC's are considered special order and you might be lucky if the LHS will even order the parts.

Let's compare Tamiya kits to other kits, not RTR's so that it's fair. When you compare kits only then they aren't overpriced are they? Plus you don't have to throw away the junk electronics that come with most RTR's.
In Touring Cars the cyclone S is $160, HPI kits are $100 to $200 (same as Tamiya)... etc. so no they are NOT overpriced when compared apples to apples. If you want to compare them to entry level RTR's then you'd have to say that ALL kits are overpriced.

I just don't like tamiya I have a f201 tuned chassis cost 350.00 works ok with the stock brushed motor but not brushless diffs won't hold up. The plastic they use reminds me of radio shack cars.

Seriously? The F201 was released in 2002, the engineering and plastics have come a long way since then. Compare it to other cars from the same generation and you don't see much better plastics. Considering that brushless motors were virtually unknown in land RC in 2002 why would you engineer for it?
Regardless, I would not consider the Formula 1 seris of cars as the "standard" for anyone to be using for comparison purposes.

sorry but tamiya is not a very good rc to use all the time. they are "model kits". most people build models and put them on a shelf NOT drive them every weekend and beat on them.
tamiya offroad cars will not hold up to daily use period.
yes they are great at making "scale kits" but no true offroad durability.
when was the last time you saw someone running a tamiya offroad and it holding up to the abuse?.
i'm tired of people *****ing about wanting a kit. either buy whats out on the market or buy a rtr and tear it down and build it yourself.
crying about it here or any forum will get you nowhere.

Traxxas needs to break the mold on this one, and offer a roller, or even a kit. I know most of the Traxxas fans wouldn't be interested. There are many of us that "would" be interested in this truck, if we didn't have to buy a radio, servo, battery and BL system we don't want... That could easily shave $200 off the asking price, and make the truck appeal to more people. I doubt they'll do it, so I'll wait for the Ofna version.

I will be buying one and I don't need or want the electronics but I will sell them. But the electronics I put in will cost more than the rtr. The receiver cost about 100.00 alone for my dx3r.
