I grabbed the RC10T2 off the shelf to mess around with it. I normally do Nitro stuff but where I'm at now I can't run them. I've never ran this truck with an 8.4v battery, but I have a bunch of them brand new in the packaging. I always used 7.2v batteries. I have a 14t Tower Speed Secret motor, and Novak Rooster ESC. My gearing is 21 and 87. I ran the car a few minutes ago with a 3300mAh 7.2v pack and it only lasted about 5-6 minutes. Is going to a 8.4v pack going to have any negative effects? Will the car run a bit longer or just a bit faster? Does putting Deans connectors on the batteries make the car run a bit longer?
Thanks in advance. I've had this truck for about 15 years now (since it was brand new off the shelf) and I really want to get it back in good shape again.

just faster.
how old is that motor? it may have a higher than normal draw. although a 14t brushed motor has a high draw to start with.

for comparison, i run a 9t ez run rushless in my mini, paired with a 3000mah lipo i get 1/2 hour runtimes.
i run a 17t brushed trinity monster (might actually be lower turn than that) paired with a 1500 7.2v nicad i'm getting 10+mins and thats in a 4wd buggy.

The motor is wicked old. Probably about 10-12 years. The battery is brand new. The Tamiya connector on it is slightly worn, and I plan on fixing that today.

the old motor is most likely to blame. you can try new brushes.
i'm suprised the tamiya connector hasn't melted from the 14t motor. they are really only good for higher turned mild motors.

Oh, it's melted. This is the 3rd one I've replaced (at min). This time I'm going Deans though, so it should be fine from now on. Back in the day I would have just grabbed another Tamiya. You think the crappy connector could attribute to the bad run times?

Well, even with the Deans, on an 8.4v pack though, I only got about 5 minutes. I'm going to have to find a way to tighten the slipper clutch. Thing spins everywhere. lol. Motor was 104f, esc 112f, and battery was 135f.
