So I am looking to add a metal prop the octura x440. Should I go 2 or 3 blade? does it make a difference? thoughts? sorry I am a noob. From what I have read the 3 prop requires your boat to have more power and if that is the case can the MC handle it?

thanks,
Tyler

This thread died a while ago. I wonder why though. I have an MC and after some hellava problems at first it is now the most fun I've hadin a long while. Mine is smooth as butter and carves the water like a razor. I just love this thing now that I have the bugs worked out.
I like this RTR thing, but I do wish you had the option to just buy the boat without TX/RX or just a hull with hardware. I would like to have a Proboat Impulse 31 too. But then I'll have three radios! one for Summit, one for MC and one for Impulse.
I don't know if the above poster is still active with his boat, but if so you probably know that the prop that is highly recommended is the X-455. I am going to try one today.

x455 is not recommended at all with a 5636 size can at 1800 kv.

Whoops, you are certainly right. I meant to say 42-55 a Grim Racer metal prop. Sorry about that. Hope nobody took my advice, lol.

m447 on spec? I don' know if the stock esc will handle it. With a CF42 the motor avg right around 60amps on 4s, grant it out of the box she runs a tad wet. Now with a seaking 120 and a m447 that might be rather interesting! I'll be waiting to see how this works out. I like when people push stock power

Agreed the m445 does rip stock, slap some 5.5mm on it though, the little 4mm don't like that prop lol. I love the grim 42x55. Doesn't have the top end of the m445 but better runtime.

I went to the LHS today and picked up a MC. The box looked a little aged, I'm hoping it's not one of the first production runs with hull issues. I ordered the 42x55 Grim prop and some 30c 5000mah batts and see how it goes this weekend.

That is the plan! I've been running a Rio ep every now and then for the past couple summers and decided I wanted something a little more serious.

Oh, I thought it was your first fast boat. Oh well, you still might be blown away, it's a pretty awesome looking when flying across the surface of the water.

First fast electric. I switched from the nitro side, the constant tuning and fuel was a pain. I've still got my old MV...it moved pretty good on 50% and Grim 36x55

i was heating up with the 445, but my motor is aged and it was in a slightly larger Ms. Vegas duece so that is definitely a variable. Also it was a fairly warm day. a 447 is gonna need to be watched but i am very interested, Seems like it might be too much diameter and cause some instabilities.

I'm thinking about getting a x646/3 detounging, back cut and maybe reduce to like 44 mm. But then i'm not sure if 3 blades is where i want to be. I have a 645 i've been working on and it works real good with the 1500 proboat motor. Has anybody messed with the abc props, they have a couple that have me interested , but price is also a bit higher. Well this isn't a prop thread and i'm starting to talk about different motors and boats here so i'm done.

I'm curious about the 3 blades on this hull vs the 2's

I ran a x447/3 cut down to 42mm detounged and tiped and the hull hated it. To much lift in the transom and caused a nasty bounce mixed with prop walk. Yanked it and stuck a 42x55 back on it and she was happy again. I may have gotten that prop to work with lots of tuning (maybe not), but didn't feel like screwing with it as I was crunched on time. Iwanna try a m445 with this motor I have and Iwanna try a prather 220.

Not running stock motor BTW.
