Traxxas villain and evx2 marine and evx2 question?
I have a traxxas villain boat that has been sitting around for yrs and im thinking about getting going again and seen some local is selling a EVX2 esc pretty cheap,,Now is there any difference between the evx2 and the evx2 Marine apart from the cooling heat sink that comes with the marine version? They look the same and im sure it will work, but im just not sure if im missing something here,It looks like I can just add that heatsink to the regular evx2? Anyone know any differences about the two?

it will work. I had a Villain IV that I put an EVX2 in, from ebay (jennys RC has them at good prices -http://stores.ebay.ca/Jennys-RCSport..._sid=124566615)
mine ofcoursedidn't have the 14 volt motors, so Iprogrammedit to run at 50% throttle - I tried once to run it at 100% throttle, and only once, because I melted the brushes. I just left it air cooled as well, worked fine.
Now it has a pair of EZ-Run brushless motors in it.
If yours is a Villain EX and you run it at 14 volts, you may need to add some water cooling.

I already have the water cooling around the motors, you mean just add that piece that slides on over the heat sinks on the esc? This part? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-Wate...item27d2245640 should fit right over the regular evx2 right?

yup, slide it on! I never did - but I only ran it at 50% max, and had modded for better air cooling before.
To answer your original question, the EVX-2 is the same as the marine version. The heat sink fins mat be a little longer, but that piece should still fit right on.
