RE: My Boat
well run it again close to shore ( so if it stops u can get it ) and keep a eye on it and watch it when u run it.
but 9 cells isnt that much at all especaly for a 400 size motor !
it should work
btw do u have a strait shaft for a flexshaft ?

RE: My Boat
Eyekandy - I always run it with a real boat naerby or from a real boat so I dont have to worry about things like how to get it back to land if it stops Thats one of the benefits of going to a school with boats as the main teaching aid
I have a flexshaft.
Grk65 - I will just run it without reverse so that the shat doesn't get pulled out.

RE: My Boat
Your heat problem may come from the sudden forward and reverse actions. I think maybe a thrust bearing between the motor case and the coupler and one between the drivedog and the strut.
The reason you have a shift in the cable of 2mm (actually the motor) is because the motor has that much play in the rotor. This is not only hard on the driveline, it's hard on the motor bearings. Those bearings aren't designed to take side thrust.
Even though it is fun to do those tricks, heat and quick wear will result.
Is it a solid shaft or is it a flex shaft? I was to believe it is a flex shaft but never seen one of those boats yet.

RE: My Boat
Its a flexshaft and I will not run it with reverse anymore so i think my problem is solved
and i do have a thrust bearing but when I use the reverse the flex cable gets pulled out a bit so when I then go foreward the thrustbearing doesn't help.
Thanks for all the help!

RE: My Boat
the collet might not be tight , and thre isnt enof tension on it so it buckles
use grease, and make sure you have the teflon liner in there , and put tension on the shaft !
