It has been less than a year, the original had some hatch cracking trouble, but a nicer tx.

Yes you can go brushless, but I recommend that if you go with the mamba that you go with a low kv rating like 5400kv or 6800 at the most. Truely the best thing to do would be to get a long can Feigao from here http://www.starluckrc.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_28
Go for something like the 2808414L the shaft size is perfect and so is the torque

so it will work with the mamba 25 esc and wont over heat anything.

and i wont be disapointed when i take you advice and the motor wont fit onto the copling (????). everything should be good.
i belive you tho. could you directly link me to the motor.

and what about props. is there a way i could modd them on. i heard about this web site that sells them so you can put pritty much any prop on it.

what speeds should i be seeing.

grk65 thanks for telling me not to bother modding my sea hawk and to blow more money on this beutiful reef racer 2 he he . jking about blowing the money.....

whats the difference bettween the 2808414L and the 2308421S

the 2308421S hase more kv rating for less $$ what gives

The L is for Long can and the S is for Short can. Longer can = more torque and more money.
As far as props I don't know. Do some research on this part. Find out if the prop is the same type as the Zig Zag and if it is go to www.offshoreelectrics.com and you fill find in the upgrade tab, an adaptor for the Ziz Zag to change the prop connection size, hopefully its the same on the RR
SPeed, I think yoiu should be in the mid to high 20's, it will be so fast that it will become uncontrollable and will only be controllable when you let off the throtte.

just emailed steven at offshore. i kno he is on holidays but i can wait .

so will the Feigao L be a direct drop in?

and say later i got bored of the reef racer, would the motor still be good to put into a gecko. like the one you have? (what sizes of hulls will this motor bee good for)

and does the motor get hot?

and the mamba 25 speed controll will hold up fine im assuming with the motor. and 6 cells?

thanks

Sorry been out of town a few days. Just got back. Don't know if it will be an EXACT drop in, but I do know it won't be hard. I don't think its big enough for the Gecko, I would recommend atleast a 380 size brushless for that. My 400 Feigao is a little too much for it.
Yes the Mamba should hold up fine with the 280, but probably not the 380.

have been thinking of the modding part.
looks like you can only access the inner hull from the water tight seals. havent seen them in real life yet but it may be a hassil to try to mod something [:'(].

hopefuly it wont bee that hard! but if it is i will keep trying till it works.

now i just need the info frome steven about the prop upgread.

you think a water cooling system for the mamba 25 speed controll would be neccisary.
if i do need to make one, shouldnt bee that hard just drill to holes on a flat peic of metal and putt copper tubing in and connect it to the motor cooling unit? (hummmm i saw that somewhere. maybe offshore elect? if so i could buy one )

Heres the one I have. And I really don't think the mod will be that hard. Its just a clamp that holds the motor in.

thats what i was thinking!

so steve just emailed me via his blackberry. and told me the zig zag prop adapter (whetever you call it )
wont fit.
[] (i put in the whetever you call it cuz i forgot).

so now i need to think if i still want the reef racer. isnt there still other props that will fit?

That helps, but yes we need the actual shaft/shaft hole size and wether its a drive dog or a threaded shaft. The zig zag is a threaded shaft.

i want the most out of my motor and prop combination. so i need to figur this out.
