Hotz and his first drive...
Just a few snap shots from his first time driving it. The run only lasted a minute before she caught a big wave turning into a very strong wind. Dad's fault... Shouldn't have evn been out running today, but he was dying to try her out.

RE: Hotz and his first drive...
Thanks! He loved it and can't wait for better weather and another oppurtunity to run it.
No, not 6 cells. 14 IB4200's. This boat is 38" long and over 7 lbs rtr. It's been just over 30 mph when I was testing, but it's sporting twin Octura spin fins (which will be replaced in the future w/a single carbon fiber piece) and a very conservative trim tab setting so it's down around 24-25 mph at the moment so he can get the feel for it. His last boat ran around 15 mph. This one is a big step up for him.
I have some video, but it was a short run...

Very nice. Nice run and nice looking boat too!
I thought it was kind of funny the way he carried the boat to the water, kind of carelessly. It reminds me of how my son carries stuff.

Thanks!
Yeah, he's 11 going on 21. Can't tell him anything. I have no idea how MY son got so hard headed.
He's so used to his wing speed and throwing it in and running the heck out of it. He's got alot to learn, but he does learn fast. Yesterday was "lesson #1"!

Looking good! Are you running the stock motor on 14 cells?
The nose looks real light at full speed. You could try moving the packs about an inch forward.
Thanks

Congrats! We have all been waiting for this day. I got a call from Austin to tell me all about it. He was some excited. Now we have to figure how to slow it down, not make it faster. We can't let him beat us.

Stock... haha! No, Steven. That's an SS1 and Jeti 600 (a buddy GAVE me) on the 7c ib4200 hump packs you built me week before last and an X437/3. BTW, do you remeber if you charged, or "zapped" those cells before shipping them to me? I couldn't get them to take much of a charge, so I just tried them and WOW, they were hot!!! They made all the difference in the world.
You right on the COG. I haven't check it with your 7c packs in it, but it was at 24.3% w/my 6c 4200'S. I'm sure with the 7th cells against the transom, that I'll need to find a new "sweet spot" for them. Shouldn't be any problem as I have a mile to move them up if need be.

The good thing is he can't beat us with his boat upside down!!!! He was hesitant to call you and tell you he cracked up. I heard him from the other room telling you he was better than me, just not better than you. Little turkey!

The batteries not zapped but are cycled 2 times, charged at .50 amps than discharged at 15 amps. If we have time we put a full charge back in them at .50 amp.
We dont zap our packs unless its requested by the customer. I don't recommend it. I personally feel that zapping makes them more fragile.

RE: Hotz and his first drive...
Thanks for the comps.
As for the batts and the percieved charge they had, I was only able to get 200-300 mahs in them on the intitial 2 or 3 consecutive "peaks/repeaks" with my wonderful 977 right out of the box...like they were already charged. I was a bit confused however, becuase they did not come up to temp. After running them for 3 or 4 minutes they took on 2500-2600 mahs each telling me that they had indeed been "precharged", or "zapped"(whatever that means) by Steven before he shipped them to me. They are indeed getting better and better with each recharge at this point.

RE: Hotz and his first drive...
I thought about the forum name thing after I had posted. Great, you guys must have had the time then becuase they ran right out of the box, 3-4 minutes and still had run time left when I stopped. This is the second set of IB race packs I have gotten from you and I am a believer. Thanks...

Oh yeah, about the stock motor. I don't know if you ever got around to running the Hotz you ordered or not, but I di run this one time in the stock config and it MIGHT have gone 10-12 mph when it finally planed off.

Hey cool, tanks for the vid. Its looking good. LOL the boat is almost as big as him.
I have no idea how MY son got so hard headed.
LOL a P2 junior.
Yesterday was "lesson #1"! .
Good one Obi-Wan Kenobi. Dont go out to far he says, Doh then it flips off the head wind.
Next time a duck hisses at him, tell him to stare it down and hiss back.[>:]

Nope. It's not stock. I removed all the stock running gear, mounts and hardware except for the servo mount rudder and steering rods. Dropped a Cordite SS1 If you want to take some time and read, here is the original thread I started before I bought the boat. It's been a long learning process for me
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4849808/tm.htm
Here is the one I started when I got the boat..
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4944219/tm.htm
Here's one from when I started rerigging the running gear.

You've seen the final result now, too....

I'm surpirsed he didn't! I think he was wishing he had brought his new air soft shotgun to the lake instaed of the boat!! I had a camera, on a tirpod, in one hand and his transmitter in the other, the antenna did a fine job of removing the obstacle.
*note* No animals were injured during this filming and in fact, were treated to a hearty christmas dinner of stale Bunny bread!
