Default this years first run

well we finally got rid of the ice at my school last week(there is still ice on most lakes and in the archipelago though[:'(]) so I decided to take my new rescue boat out for a spin.
I got the boat from a friend for free with everything exept esc and rx tx. I didnt build the boat so dont say anything about the crappy setups of things, i allready know. And I dont intend to change anything. this is just for pushing my other boats in to land if the die out on the water.

i was pretty surprised with how well it performed on the water
one thing that I was a bit worried about was the temperature of the water. a thin abs hull in 37F water felt like a bad idee...and it sure was. look at the picture with the props and you can see that the hull is cracked around the rudder.

not the best start of a new boating season but it was fun anyways so'

well..now to the boat. its a protech 380, its like a reef racer but not rtr.
the motor is a graupner speed 480
esc: lrp waterproof car esc
batteries: 8 1100mah
and a hitec hs81

the only thing I've done to it is
changed to the big prop in the pic(stock prop in my hand)
paint. thought the flourecent orange was a good color for a rescue boat:P
bought and installed the esc.

I will run it tomorrow again and I'm hoping it wont crack again. And that the bigger prop will do some difference.

so what about you other people who live in places where you cant runt boats for a few moths because of this silly thing they call winter? have you had your first run of the year yet??

Thats not bad for a rescue boat. Today was nice but I had to work. Maybe this coming weekend. I am going to rework some batteries and see if I have two good 6 cell packs. I really don't have the money right now for new packs. I have been putting alot of money into some if my micro brushless set ups over the winter.

Is it still cold where you live or is it like spring allready with green grass and stuff?
hope you get to run this weekend then maybe some pics?
what boat are you running?

I'm hoping to do the maiden run with my micro iceberg some time soon. maybe I'll wait until its a little bit warmer outside and in the water.
until then Ill just play around with the protech. I think I'll get some pics of it in the water tomorrow and maybe even a little video..

Joccee,

Where do you live in Sweden? I have a brother that lives near Eskiltuna (or something like that.)

ran the boat with the big prop today...it was crap:P...slower than the stock prop. I think i will try a cut down x431 instead.

That's a good sign Wheelnut[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Joccee, that paint looks crazy. You will be able to see the thing as it lays at the bottom of your pond/lake! It will come in handy when you need it.

haha...yeah the paint is pretty usefull if it will sink..but its a pain in the ***** to take pics of.

ran the boat today. when I ran it with the purple prop that you can see in the first post it didnt go to fast so I changed to a x431 and it was way faster but the motor didnt have the power to spin the prop as fast as it should so I will try to cut the x431 down a bit and see if its better.

I have a short vid for you too

Nice cool little boat. Still cold here but the ice is gone on one pond I run on. I hope to get the wing speed out to test the waters, then get my first run since winter with the SVs. Can you say three months. I float it in the tub and pretend while I take my meds.

"this is just for pushing my other boats in to land if the die out on the water."

How do you plan on doing the pushing? Are you going to put a scoop on it like the zig zag?

I feel the need.....

I havn't really figured that out yet..but maybe I'll put a small magnet on it and hope I can get the magnet to stick to the rudders or struts of my other boats.

ooh...didn't think about that..would be embarasing to loose a boat at sea becasue of that..
but i do have some magnets that are like 7mm in diameter and can pull 1kg. så if I put one on each boat and one on the rescueboat I should be able to pull 2kg.

i have a vid of the purple(pink) boat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-S_oQ5ntG8

that was during one of my first runs though so it doeasn't really reach top speed:/
