Default Need motor/esc suggestions

I have just finished building a 22"x7.5" mono hull of 1/16 balsa. Im not sure what motor/esc combination to use. Im going to be using 8 cells so I thought I might could use a great planes t-600 or graupner 600 with a jeti navy 600 esc. That along with an octura inline rudder system.I willl also need prop suggestions. Im gonna need alot of help cause im new to boats.

22" boat, hmmm, I am thinking a max of 10 cells, unless you are comfortable with LiPo's, what do you think. I was thinking of two 5 cell packs on each side. I would say get the 600bb from offshore, it has alot more rpms. The hardware looks fine. I would start off with a 35 to 40mm prop. You should get a couple in this range to see what the setup likes. You may even be able to get a 42mm.

Would the 600bb handle 10 cells? It is rated for 6-9.6V. I can easily fit a 10 cell saddle pack in the boat but Im probably not going to get into lipos for a while. I also need a new charger after my Superbrain 959 fried and was checking out the Multiplex LN-5014

Sorry about that, if its rated for 9.6 volts then 8 cells is the max. I guess two 4 cell packs is what you want.
That charger looks like it needs a powersupply.

what weight of fiberglass should I use on the boat? I want to try and keep it light. Would 3/4 ounce be strong enough? And is there a boat ESC with BEC? I thought I might get an airplane ESC and use the adaptor from offshore.

Why do you want to fiberglass it?

its just 1/16 balsa and it seems that a 600 is alot of power for the size plus battery weight and hitting waves

well I decided not to fiberglass and went ahead and sealed the hull with polyurethane and painted with gloss black rust-oleum. what kind of speeds could I expect running this on 8 cells? Could an octura x427 or x430 work on this?

I am not sure what prop to use, the ones you mentioned would be worth a try. I would say you could hit the 30mph mark with ease, running that motor in that boat.

I found some 1/8 aluminum laying around today and decided to make my own rudder to save some money. With this I will not need the whole octura hardware system. Should the shaft come straight out of the bottom of the transom? I think Im going to use the octura .130 3/16 flex shaft, strut and strut bracket. As of now the hull weighs under half a pound with paint and a micro servo.
