Default !!!Battery CHOICES!!!

Im getting my Caribbean Cruiser 2 that is running dual 550 motors and takes two batteries to go along with it and i dont know which way to go in battery selection. Im not planning on racing any time soon so my only priority is fun. As far as i know i cant change the voltage on that boat to higher then 14.4 (2 X 7.2 batteries) so i dont need to worry about being faster just about the run time. They have the really nice 4200-4500 batteries but they seem to be about 50 or more dollars. For about that same price i found where i can order four 3300 (or 3600 for a little more) batteries and now i cant figure out if i want two really good batteries or four pretty good batteries. It seems i would get more time out of the four but am i going to get any positives by using the bigger battteries? I know it will be a little extra work to take it out and switch the battery but it seems i would be adding a lot of time to my over all trip. Please give me some of your opions and tell me what you would do in this situation.

The IB 3600's are very good. The IB 4200's (WC) are more powerful and run long but are very finiky. I bought some packs off ebay. Off brand NiMH 3500's for about 14 per pack (6 cell and they get my SV to 25-27 mph. Good cheap fun. Somthing like these.....

That's top and bottom of the barrel. Doen't sound like you are trying to break records.

Wheel,
What packs are you buying from them? 4500's or 3600's? How dot the 4500's compare to the IB42's for amp draw and maintenance?

On only a slightly related topic, what side of the velcro (hook & loop) fastener goes on the battery pack? The soft (fuzzy) side or the hard (plastic) side? The batteries I ordered for my Hammer EP don't have any velcro on them and want to have everything ready to go when the boat arrives tomorrow.

I get the 3600's. They are great for what I do (sport running). I don't want the worry that comes with the 4200's or the 4500's. At the moment I guess we have reached the limit of reliability and ease of use at 3600mah.

What kind of maintenance do you mean for the 4200 and 4500 i dont know what you mean? Is there something you have to do different with those compared to 3600

The 4200's and 4500's are prone to getting out of balance and have to be slow peaked to rebalance them. The 3600's and lower do not seem to carry this trait.
