Ive got one coming....I think they will do well in the surf or small rapids since they are self-righting like surfer lisa. I was thinking about using a 7.3volt lipo but the reduced weight might reduce the ability to self-right. Weight might need to be added if I run a lipo.

Yep thats my video. The hull can't take the power it was more of an experiment. Don't bother with the zig zag hull its crap and takes on water.

Not sure what to do on batteries for the ZZ2 anyways. I have like 60 batteries, son my kidos just run em 1 after another. They peak charge in like 7 minutes. I know you can solder on 2 more batteries to realy get the zz2 moving. Its 10.8 mph outta the box.

The mini-v is really a better boat. Same price range, better compoents and a the hull is the shape of a vhull not so flat. I've got one on order and the components I used in the video on the zig zag will hit the mini-v. I ordered the hull only was 30 canadian.

I ordered a proboat Mini-V today. After looking at them I thought it would be better to upgrade it instead of the mini-z c-1 cat.

Just got a zig zag 3 today, my first boat. I have some 7 cell 1800mah batteries I was hoping to use, AA format. Seem to fit OK on their side, servo linkage clears fine. They will add 1.2oz of weight though. Should be OK?

One way to find out, throw her in and see if the weight affects performance, which I doubt it will. The ones in the review were all running the 7 cell packs and they were substantially faster w/o any handling issues.

I put a flexdrive, pulso 40 amp esc, feigao 16s bl motor, 3s 1650mah lipo, and a detounged x432 in my mini-v and it looks about like that video above. You can hit the throttle and it literally jumps out of the water. The mini-v hull has limits too and I have exceeded them. It's uncontrollable and also is very hard to tape up good because of the way the hatch sits on the boat. Just some advice for anyone who builds one up, be very carefull with weight. I spent a lot of cash on this little hull and am not at all happy with it, the motor I used is too heavy. I plan on getting a RCMK Micro Mogli hull for the electronics. Sorry for hijacking this ZZ forum but I noticed some talking about the little-V.

I just turned my Zig Zag into brushless pretty easy and it FLIES! I can run circles around my other one. It was easy to rip out al lthe other electronics and install a servo and the brushless motor. Turns better and is FAST! The only problem I am having is the heating up of the ESC.
I would be interested to see if anyone else has done this upgrade.

I recently upgraded a zig zag 3 to brushless . I used a Feigao 15 turn, 2.3 mm shaft, 16A, 3867 rpm motor. A 7.4V lipo, 110ma 15c. A BP 40A Esc. I'm using a emaxx controller with fm micro reciever. It worked great, ran pretty quick. Would run alot faster on a 12v lipo. I just had to put a half ounce of counter weight in the rear of the boat. The motor did get pretty hot after about 10 min of hard running. Boat handled great though on smooth water. Now I custom made a copper cooling jacket for the motor with quarter inch tubing and made a inlet and outlet for it. Havent tested it yet. I will have pics and possibly a video up soon, once I get it dialed in. Has anyone else done any brushless zig zag 3's that were successful?

I recently bought a reef racer 2. The LHS had both the zzr3 and the RR2. I ultimately decided on the RR2 because it has2 circular waterproof cas that you screw on and then mount a hatch cover over. Also, it comes with water cooling for the motor. That being said, I am waiting for my parts to come in from Hong Kong to upgrade. I have a 2700kv brushless motor, a 40a water cooled ESC and a 7.4v 2100 mah lipo battery coming in. I can't wait I already gutted my boat. Also, I removed the ESC/rx combo and installed an old AM rx I had.

I havent tried 12v yet, but am planning on it. The custom water cooler for the motor worked great. It keeps the motor close to the temperature of the water. I will be putting a video up hopefully in the next couple days. I was jumping it off of a dam. I did 6 runs. It was amazing, the cover stayed on great with clear scotch tape. I did use a straight piano wire for the rudder linkage to eliminate a wobble it was getting from the bent stock rudder linkage.

I have a couple of these little boats, but really don't want to dump too much money into them, as my 5yr old seems quite happy with it as is.

Iwas thinking of getting a few of these batteries to bump the voltage a bit, for a bit more speed.

I have a great brushless setup for my zigzag3 ... I custom built an outrunner motor mount.. and I am using a RC TIMER BC1712-13 2000kv outrunner... on 2cell lipo with mamba 25 esc.. with 20deg advance timing and everything including the esc is cool to the touch.. I get 20 min runtime from a 1250mah 2cell lipo... boat is alot faster than stock and is very stable and a great running boat... only problem is when I put in a 3 cell the esc overheats and shuts down.... but the 2 cell setup is excellent.... I can't wait to get a larger 2000mah or bigger heli battery to get 40min runtimes.... hope this helps someone out there because it took awhile to find the right combo for this boat...
