Hey Scott.
We've found that the Octura X637 is a great prop for the Ammo 2300 in these things on 4s Lipo. Give one of those a try. You can borrow mine when you come up for another run if you can't get hold of one down there to try before you buy.
Cheers.
Paul.

We brought one of these in from China to see if we wanted to sell. Nice hull and hardware but not very fast. We only ran it once. You have to have an onboard battery as the ESC doesn't have a BEC. No big deal. If somebody wants our sample boat, we'll let it go for $150 + shipping. That's slightly less than our cost. You can email us at [email protected]

Which version do you have exactly and for $150 what all comes with it?

Mine was $115 minus servo, rx, batts, ubec, esc.

the origonal motor is a throw away and you are better of getting your own esc. as far as slow goes mine does 47mph setup for oval raceing, not to bad i think for a cheap boat would like to see a sv27 keep up with it

And they're a lot more stable on the water & in the turns too.
I believe it's the 'hook' built into the hull. Put a straight edge along the bottoms of the hull & you'll see it near the transom.
Hey Scott.
The cats doing fine. Got me two of those Himodel 200A ESCs yesterday. Only placed the order on Monday. That's damn fast delivery from China.
Watercooled them last night. Test on Saturday. One in the Bulletproof & one in a Hydro with the motor that came with the cat.
No instructions with them. Bench tested ok on 3s & 4s Lipo. Do they have programming facilities or are they just plug & go?
All the motors worked fine except the 6 pole SV27 motor. At 3/4 throttle it would start missing & hesitating. Perhaps they are just not compatable. The Turborix ESC I have wouldn't even turn that motor over.
Cheers.
Paul.

hi paul good to here boats are going well. yea the hi model speedies are good value, geoff had trouble with his blackjack motor as well with the himodel speedie maybe they dont like hi pole motors. yea you can program them will see if geoff still has instructions on his computer, if so will email it to you. got my cat running with the 7xl did a gps and it was running constant 80 klmh for 2-3 minutes but that was on batteries that had acouple of runs already and boat was running a bit wet. i can see it running about 85-90 constantly for 3-4 minutes with a bit more tuneing and prop work.

Got my parts today! Surprised it got here in a week!

I will take pics of the 120A Turborix ESC when I add the water block.

I got some turn fins. I see some have mentioned adding trim tabs to help the ride. Now I need to know where I would mount trim tabs (spave wise from center of hull) so i know where I can mount the turn fins.

Also how deep does one set turn fins at? And they are at the same angle of the V in the hull (perpendicular to)?

my tim tabs are 30mm (1"1/4) up from the centre of the hull and they are 40mm wide.with the turn fins if you look at were the bottom of hull meets the chine there is a lip. i run my turn fins inline with the lip and at 90 deg to the bottom of the hull i run my turn fins so they are not just touching the water when on plane. hope this helps

Hi Paul, check out this link for setting up these ESC's:
http://www.suppomodel.com/ESC/escmenu.html

Scroll down for programming instructions, it has worked for me on my 100A Mysery ESC's

Hi there.
I gotta say, these HiMark 200A ESCs are great value. Motor, wiring, connectors, Batteries, all stayed cooler. The ESC was hardly warm.
My little 'Bulletproof' was running really well. I think this will remain it's final setup. Might not be the fastest setup around but it's good for oval racing.
Motor...Ammo 2300kv
Esc... HiMark 200A (with bec)
Prop... Octura X637
Batteries...4s Lipo (2 x 2s packs in series)
Scott.
It would be great to see those instructions.
Your cat sounds like a weapon now. Mine ran fast enough for me with the SV27 motor & speedie with an X645 prop. Needs a stronger servo though because it wouldn't turn into the corners until I washed a bit of speed off, & then it would hook (mainly because I was still holding full rudder on the Tx.)
Basstronics.
What Scott says is pretty much right. Here's a pic of the setup on the back of mine. I'm not saying it's perfect but it seems to work.

Jan.
Thanks for the info. I'll see if this ESC is compatable with those instructions if Scott can't send me the ones specific to these ESCs.
I guess I should ask HiMark for a link to their instructions.
Cheers.
Paul.

Looking good Paul,

If I were to make a remark (and naturally I will...), for oval racing, the steering rod should be on the other side of the rudder, it looks rather 'flimsy' and will most likely flex under load, maybe your steering issues are related to it.

As our boats are set up for right hand turns only, the steering rod is on the right.

Regards, Jan.

pompebled. it is his cat that has steering issues not the mono. the cat has the steering on the right hand side. the mono is on the left but has no steering problems.
paul. if your esc is a himodel it is the same as the 200 amp mystery, trying to get geoff to send but he is of line. if you want to know standard setting it is. auto lipo detect timing low brake off.
check the steering rod on your cat mine was really bent and would flex when i tried turning under power. i have a high tourqe in mine and you have to watch excelarating out of cornes they will hook rather sharp.
got my cat sorted a bit yesterday and is running constant 90klmh (56mph) its rather fun

Well the ESC is sorted enough to get it running. What a process.

Programming card seems to be a $14 waste as it just says "read..." and doesnt do anything else?

Can someone run down a typical program card use? How its done? Never done it before.

Next my Turn Fins I bought are massive and are for weed eater boats! Stupid R2Hobbies has NO SPECS on boat parts so i bought them blind and got screwed...

Hi Jan.
Sorry for the confusion. I guess we shouldn't be talking about a different boat on this thread. But they are made by the same company.
There's no problem with the steering on the mono. The push rod's plenty strong enough. In fact I had to dial out some rudder throw to stop it turning too tightly in the corners.

Scott.
PM sent. Thanks.
Man 90 klicks. That's quick for those cats. The first thing I did was to glue a guide on the rod up under the deck to stop the rod bending under load in "corrective" left hand turns. But as it's essentially a pull rod in right hand turns it seems I need to upgrade the servo. I'll catch up with you on O.S.E. About these cats. For anyone interested it's these (well at least mine is) [link]http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcbt1107_N[/link]
My main question about the setup in the HiMark speedie is, do you need to programme in the number of Lipo cells or does it auto detect & adjust the low voltage cutout accordingly? I'm only assuming that they do because the motors ran on 3 or 4 cells on the bench when I changed them, but does the lvc change too?

Basstronics.
I saw your post over on R.C. Groups first & tried to answer it there.
What I basicly said (if you haven't seen it) is that I think you have the wrong card for that ESC. The one you have is for their Bi-directional (reversing) ESCs. You need this one
[link]http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcps81706_pc[/link] I know the title says Bi directional but it's not. It has the ability to change the direction of the motor by programme setting but not while in use with the tx like the card that you have which is for reversing ESCs as used in scale type boats.
Hope this helps a bit
Paul.

Argh

I bought the fancy one as it was only $3 more...lol I was going to get that one but figured what the heck. I like a readout over lights.

Well I got my batts all charged up then balanced off, installed and went off to the quarry.

When I got there the wind was strong. The mini waves were about 3-4" tall. I decided not to run and risk it. Going to try tomorrow.

Well Im back from what could very well be the last run of the year for me. It was cold, it was raining and misting. I prevailed!

The boat ran decent. I got out a bit and it died all the sudden. I think the UBEC is soldered well enough. Then it took off everything seemed good.

I did some straight lines to see what she could do and to see if it was going to blow up, again.

The boat seemed awesome. No issue. I did a couple close hole shots, the last one got us wet. Towards the end I did some high speed turns I tried to refrain from that as my last run ended up upside down. When I turn right it seems to dig in and skip a bit. When I turn left its wider but a smooth turn.

I ended the run when I did as something seemed odd. It slowed a bit but not drastically. Once the cover was off the ESC was barely warm. Motor was warmer but not quite hot. The issue was the motor bolts loosened up and the motor was free to wobble...

All in all a decent yet short run. Hopefully next year I can get a full run on the batteries without a motor or esc blowing up or the motor coming loose!

Vid to come, will edit it in once its uploaded.

where's the CG on these boats?

With the battery so far forward, it looks like they balance at 50%.
