That mount is similar to my Etti one i'll be using,i'll be doing the back support thing on my motor too.
Probaly using 1/8 ply and some silicone fuel tubing cut in half and glued onto the contact surface of the wood.

Hey there Fellas ..... I ran my HOR boat today for the first time as i got it from the PO yesterday .......... I have mixed feelings . The boat was kinda fast ..... But  ...... I had 2 3S 2600 Mah batteries running in parallel for 5200 Mah in total .......... It only ran for about 4 mins on fully charged never before used batts ....... That can't be right ? The batteries were cool comming out , but the motor was hot ! .There was no binding in the drive that i could see  ..... Any ideas ?

i'm running mine on 4s, 5000mah batts, its possible your motor was working to hard, i'm assuming the motors watercooled, check all inlets and outlets by blowing through them, what size prop are you running???

There was good cooling ..... There was water shooting out of the outlet . The prop i'm running was the one it came with (sharpened a little) . I thought if the motor was working hard the batteries would have been hot too .

There was a little binding i think ....... I have readjusted the STUPID drive system to the best that i can ...... There is less binding now . If the hull was running too wet would this happen as well ? I had the trim set very conservative .

I put the calipers on my prop ... it's 35.5mm . Also , it's a sloppy fit to the shaft . I believe that it's a 4mm shaft ? I've looked online and can't find 4mm props that aren't threaded carbon types . I think i read that guys are changing the drive out for other style drives . What do you use ? Also i think i read about other motors being used ...... What would be the best to replace the stock "thing" with ?My motor mount is glassed into the hull as opposed to the glued ones i read about .

How long have you left your batterys before using them ?
they may need charging a few times and using , also how much charge did you put back after the 4 mins run ?

i run tornado pro 5300's 25c and only just get the 6 min race time .

phil.

Glad to see this thread still is alive.

I noticed R2Hobbies has stopped selling the "Prince". So its head of the river or nothing now...

I just got my Hobby king 2.4 Radio in a few weeks ago. Im about to order some batteries, wire, deans and heat shrink tonight.

I think Im gonna get her in the water as is and work on the motor in a month. I got a new motor to drop in the beast... Just gotta rework the entire interior of the boat.

The boat is made for 1 3s or 1 4s. If your running 2 3s lipos I think you are adding to much weight for the stock motor/esc.

i run 2x 3s in parallel, getting the same 11.1v but doubling the mah for longer runtime, mines all stock apart from a 120a watercooled/proofed esc

Here's how it goes on 4 cells - (2) 2 cell lips in series - I built mine using a Black and Orange Hull offered only a few times on EBaY with an Etti 2mm Wire Drive - Doing a couple of Huge Laps

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_zNzsPV5bE

This one I built for the wife with a White Hull - It is on 3 3 cell Lipo - Not too fast for her -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdFPD4LNBio

The builds for both these boats are on this thread somewhere - Page 20+ for the White Prince and Great Pics of my Black and Orange boat on page 14

Steve (heading to lake soon - check my other UTube vids for cool project I am up to)

I run 2 3S 2600Mah batts in parallel aswell .... that shouldn't be an issue with the motor and or ESC unless they are crap ! I'm buying good stuff to put in the boat now .I already have a Turnigy 120Amp ESC . Any suggestions on what motor ?

I picked up a 36 x 58 3000 kv (or close to) motor from E bay well over a year ago. Its to big to fit the R2Hobbies styled interior (wood motor mount/batt tray).

So right now I have a 28 x 68 motor rated 2898 Kv. The prop I use is a cheap red plastic one. 42mm dia and I think 1.4 pitch. All I can say is the boat hauls some serious rear end. I have vids posted in various states of evolution.

http://www.youtube.com/basstronics

Theres some toss up between the 4s and lower motors vs the 3 s and higher rated motors.

Both motors I have had 3s in mind. I run two batteries (2200) in parallel. Its a hog and sits very low in the water- but its a missile.

so your saying stick with low kv motor and 3s in parallel, sounds good to me, i think i might go with the typhoon motor as i have one in my 25" hydro and that goes well on 4s
