Default aquacraft sv27 motor swap question

I have a aquacraft sv27 that the motor has issues, and was going to buy a new motor, but was wondering if anyone could tell me a good upgrade for a motor that would still work without too much effort... or is the stock motor best? and does anyone have a good motor for sale? thanks, Kerry

Are you sure it's a motor problem & not an ESC/Rx problem?
An easy motor swap is the Ammo 2300kv. You can still use the original ESC if you prop down a touch.
Cheers.
Paul.

I am not positive, but when I pulled the motor out, held onto it and applied power, It sounded like crap, like it has bad bearings.
would the ammo motor have more or less power? thanks, Kerry

more RPM. The boat designer recomends it at the best upgrade. But as mentioned you will have to prop down. There are several threads on this if you look. look for "SV27 owners" and there are lots of links there

This is a full service web site.

This should tell you what you need to know about the ammo swap. The guy with the van-halen boat had run it with 4S lipos and says it's not controlable at WOT. H has a full throttle launch and it blows over after about 20 feet. Pretty impressive. I think if you mind it it would be fun but be ready to retrieve it.

Go with the 2300. I think the 2600 is 11volt.

I think you'll find that the Ammo 2600 is rated at 11.1v - 14.8v.
The Ammo 2300 is rated at 14.8v -18.5v. [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLWZ6&P=7[/link]
I know for sure that the 2300 works well on the original ESC on 12 cells & 4s Lipo. I run one in a 25" mono. I'm not sure on the 2600 as I've never used one. Depends on your prop selection.
The best props I've found so far, on the 2300, are an X637, X442. Grim Racer 40 x 52 / 3blade, & X642. The last two get the boat to 45mph. Heat remains acceptable on motor, batteries, & ESC. Although in this setup I am using a Hi Model 200A ESC now. But it was fine on the original Aquacraft ESC. Although the X642 may warm it up a bit more.
That's all the info I can offer. Maybe someone else has more info on the 2600.
Cheers.
Paul.
