Sealing hatches and Greasing Shaft?
Hay guys, just a few questions...
I got my self an Arpro P1 - Really nice boat, gos well...
Just wondering how you guys go about stopping water from getting in the hatchs...
After every run, theres water all over the batteries, motor and ESC...
Also, I read that you should grease the prop shaft after every run???
How do i go about this?, What Grease do i use? and also, would normal Marine grease
be ok?
Thanks

Not into FE power myself, but I'm fairly certain many of electric boaters use radio hatch tape, or other clear type of packaging tape.
Yes, that shaft needs greasing after each run or so. I personally use marine grease or the stuff from Grim Racer.

I use grimracer grease but I think marine grease will work. If I put 4 runs on the boat in one trip to the pond that's alot but weather its one run or four I grease the shaft between trips. What I like to do is pull the shaft at the pond when I'm done and wipe it down and throw it in the boat. That way any water in the stuffing tube will have time to evaporate before I run again. Then I grease it up before heading back to the lake. I've used hockey tape (works good). any electrical tape works fine and you can find it in many colors.

RE: Sealing hatches and Greasing Shaft?
Hello Again.
Today i tried to grease my Prop shaft with marine grease...But with no Luck.
Every time i put grease on the shaft, than slide it back in the boat the grease
would just come of the shaft...
Than i tried to syringe it in, but than when i put the shaft back in the grease just came
out the other end and made a big mess in the boat.
Is there a trick or a tool for putting the grease in???
Thanks guys.

You were probably fine. Probably used too much. I wish I had a picture of my shaft creased but I don't. Just a coating. If the strut is taking alot off then you had too much on to begin with. Too much grease will slow you down. Rememer there is a teflon liner in there too. I actually thin the grease at the back where the bushing is with some 3/1 oil when I'm trying for my top speed attemtps. You won't hurt it.

your fine, i spin my flex shaft while putting it in and then go in and out a couple of times to try and make sure there is a thin layer of grease thoughout the entire tubbing, i usually only put one run in when i go out cause of batt shortage, i only re grease my shaft every 3-4 times to the lake, i've had my sv for 9 months or so and the flex shaft is still fine even after using a x646 which is huge compared to the x440 i run now or the x442 some are running, If you really want to get tedious about it you should do as svdayton suggest, taking out the shaft after each run and wiping it down to allow for drying, i use motorcycle grease that is waterproof, it is a little thicker as far as viscosity so i may be slowing myself down a bit, it's what was in my gargage though and it has been working well for me

RE: Sealing hatches and Greasing Shaft?
Thanks for all your help...
I was getting worried that i wasn't doing something right.
I just found some Water Resistant marine & Trailer grease. It's a
bit thicker than the grease that came with the boat, But it's the same
colour...And no water seems to be getting in the hull.
Thanks
