Default Queensland Champioships Racing 2009

Come and watch some of the fastest boats in Australia racing right here in Brisbane.
Brisbane Model Marine club is hosting the 2009 Qld Model Powerboat Racing Championships.

When: 4th-8th June, Queen's Birthday long weekend (June long weekend).

Where: Brisbane Model Marine, Boral lake, off Lawnton Pocket Road, Lawnton. (seemap).

What:
Thursday 4th June - Practice all day. 8.30am-5.00pm
Friday 5th -Sunday 7th June - Heat Racing all day. (6 boats per heat.)
Monday 8th June - 1/2km individual speed event. (Like drag racing but only one boat at a time, going as fast as possible over a 1/2km course.)

We have 162 entries in the Heat racing and 44 entries in the 1/2km speed event.

Include monos, hyrdos, riggers, tunnel hulls & offshore classes running nitro, petrol &electric.
So if you are into model power boating, come and check out all the action.

The entry is about 300m east from Gympie Road. This is a temporary access gate, open only for the Qld Champs weekend to keep our traffic separate from the Boral quarry traffic.

Gates Open: 7:15am - 4:30pm Thursday to Monday only.

Schedule:
Thursday:
Practice 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday:
Drivers Briefing 7:45 am
Oval Racing 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Presentation of trophies after final round of racing on Sunday.
(Should there be an early finish of the Oval Racing on Sunday we will endeavour to start the 1/2km time trials if possible.)

Monday:
Drivers Briefing 7:30am.
1/2km Time Trials start 7:45am.

BBQ will be on the go each day.
Soft drinks & bottled water also available.
Tea & coffee available all day.

That's funny Scott.
But lucky me it's just down the road apiece from my place, so I'll be going for a look.

How far is that from Wynham.
Yes yes I know I am in Auckland but I have a brother-in-law in Brissy.
A long thought, but possible.

do you mean Wynnum?
Wynnum is about a bit over an hour away I'd say. Go north across the Gateway Bridge until you get to the Bracken Ridge exit. Then go west along Bracken Ridge Road, cross over the Bruce Highway and you're on Gympie Road.
Follow that thru to Lawnton and turn right at the pool opposite BCF.

Once we are completely converted to socialism here I'll be moving my family down under, may as well be close to a good RC lake right?
