Wow, nice boat at a killer price. It looks like it needs a BEC though.

I like the battery placement because it will allow you to run single packs. I might have to order one later down the road.

Head of the river seems to be one of the better china suppliers. Boat is probably good. If you want to know more about the motor, look up thier other items. Usually the parts are available seperately and they will tell you more about them there.

Lots of people buy from them. Go through the boat and check everything out, odds are you will be OK. If not, you lose but you take chances at these prices.

The motor shows a website url on it. Here it is the motor(s): http://www.fsd-motor.com/en_products.asp?id=41

Click on any motor and download the speadsheet with specs on it.

Got in the hobby this year. I bought this one as my first boat. I'll tell you, I learned A TON - it served as a bad example

I recommend you buy the hull from Head Of The River and put an 8XL class motor in it and will spin at a healthy 31K rpms on 4S. As the boat comes, the 9L motor is over loaded trying to turn 2760 kv in a 32" mono. The ESC gets to DANGER levels (over 160) in about one minute of running at 4S. 6S is out of the question. 3S parallel might be best. Not 100% sure. Anyways, now I am re-buying the right motor/esc for this boat. I'd hate to see you go through the same thing.

There are no battery trays. Order up some 1/8th inch ply and center them at the 30% point from the transom.

Mine leaked like crazy. The stuffing tube was not sealed, probably a one-off issue.

My steering servo tray was poorly glued. Popped one day and took me out for the weekend... No biggie.

So, to repeat, a lot of this was me learning the hobby.

One tip that I will share, any time you get a new model, remove all the screws and threadlock them!
Also, consider dipping your electronics in Corrosion-x to repel water.

I like the battery placement because it will allow you to run single packs. I might have to order one later down the road.
But as it is configured with one 3S 5000 battery in the middle, FE Calc says it draws 163 amps (exceeding most continuous ratings). Run time would be under 2 minutes. You really need two batteries... so I strapped two in the middle and then during one flip, I cracked the single plate of plywood because there's not enough wood to secure all that battery weight to. That plate was really pretty inadequate. I installed trays in the sides. The plate is perfect for strapping down the esc and radio. It prevents water from pooling on the electronics whether it's on it's feet or on its head
