newbie here

Hi guys
Vet here ,I've been playing with RC stuff for over 10 years now
Tried planes,helis ,cars,trucks ,even forklifts
I guess I will have a go speed boating

Just brought the Sport Club from Hobby Engine
www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/hobby-engine-sport-club-rc-speed-boat/
Replaced the stock 9.6V 10C NIMH with 11.1V 20 C Lipo
Hope it runs good .....

Anyway ,its my pleasure to once again embark on USS NEWBIE ,and wishes us all a happy journey

I think you will be bored with it really quickly . Perhaps the better quality and better performance from one of the models frHobbyKing would have been a better choice ? The price is comparable as you are using Pounds .

I didn't mean to sound like i know it all ! I surely learned the hard way . i bought a few plastic overpriced boats at first . Places like HobbyKing have changed the hobby in my opinion ! They have an amazing  selection and the prices are more than resonable ! For what you payed for the boat you got you could have had a pretty fast and dependable brushless setup !

Man ...... I spent loads of money "upgrading"  Cheaper hulls . And to be honest it was fun ..... But ....... For what you end up spending on a boat that will never be as fast or controlable  as a boat specifically designed for speed it doesn't work out . I have a "few" plastic Aquacraft boats that i have installed brushless power and new drivetrain in and on . I have to say including what you spend on the original model then the upgrades it's way too much .

So
I guess
I should get my feet wet on this toy ,stay in the box

and when I have enough green for the bad boys
move up to tunnel hull and catarmarns

does not have to be a tunnel or Cat, but yes.  have fun with the boat you have.  Play around with it, tune it and so on.  Just don't waste money upgrading it.  go for a new hull that is designed for speed, then upgrade that as you go.<div>
</div><div>If you buy from Hobby King, read the reviews!  They have allot of junk, but also have a few really good oats as well.</div><div>
</div><div>I bought the Genesis  It is a really great hull, but the motor, ESC, and hardware (well the fasteners) are all junk.  So it was fun to run for the total of 8 minutes stock, really fast, and handled great.  But now it is in replace everything mode.  In the end it will be an awesome boat, but it was allot more then the initial $200.00 (make sure you "add to cart") </div>

It does seem as if it's hit and miss with buying brushless boats ....... I've bought from "reputable" manufacturers and from never before heard of ones ...... Only to find the product is the same ! The only difference is the after sales service . Proboat seems to be OK as well as Aquacraft . Venom has been a nightmare i don't think i'll buy from them again . As far as HobbyKing goes i have a Genesis also but in the 4-5 times i have run it i haven't had an issue .

I have been reading about other RC boats for hours now
and I see a lot of people talking about Proboat Miss Geico and the Widow Maker
Are they anygood ?

Miss Geico looks like a pebble skipping across the lake ,its fast ,but feels kind of like its gonna flip any minute
Widow Maker looks like my boat ,sail like my boat ,even banks like my boat ,so I don't know what else to expect from it
This is my thought

Care to prove me wrong?<br type="_moz" />
