first run video 25" mono

hey guys, finally got some video of my first run of my 25" mono.

its a brushless feigao 2249 kv (something like that) with an aqua craft 60amp brushless lipo ready esc with the updated large capacitor
in the video its running twin 7.2v nimh 2500 mah packs.
a hitec servo, HK 2.4ghz radio

speedmaster adjustable surface drive strut, twin carbon fiber turn fins, a jae .21 rudder and twin trim tabs.

now onto my concerns, it acts like its going to flip when i turn right, the rudder is mounted on the right side.
im thinking that the rudder is too long and cutting up and out of the water.

so heres a link to the vid, enjoy.
pics will follow soon.
feed back, please?

Im thinking you are trying to turn to sharp.

I agree about trying to turn to sharp.

Do you have a pic of the inside that you could share i.e., how the batteries etc. are layed out?

I think you need to run lipo battery packs with more mah rating than 2500.
This will give you more power and help the boat get on plane witch will reduce
the amount that the hull leans over when you turn. Mine turns like that when im
bringing it back in and its loseing battery power.
I currently run 5s lipo in my 25" and i have now done away completely with both
turn fins.
From the video you can see that its running wet so try moving your batts further back.

RE: first run video 25

that video is running nimh packs, not lipos,

i ordered my lipos last night, 5500 mah 7.2v packs, 2 ran in series for a total of 14.8v.

thanks for the suggestions, i was unsure if it was because its running a little wet, or if it was just because the rudder was too long.

ill shoot some vid after my lipos come in, and see how that effects it

thanks again
andy

I ment to ask what length your rudder was? you should have much better results with
your lipos. I would have thought that nimh cells were a bit heavy for this hull to.

the rudder is 95mm from very top, to very bottom.

yeah, the nimh packs were a bit heavy, but, the excitement got to me and i just had to take it out lol.

hopefully the lipos will be enough to get it up out of the water a little and im sure it will be much faster lol.

also a quick question about props.

after 4 sets of batteries my motor and esc were room temp. im not sure if this will hold true with the lipos, but i think its almost safe to say i could go for a larger prop.

I will have to measure mine as i cant remember off the top of my head what the length is
but i would have thought that would be fine.
As for prop sizes its always best to start off small and work up. What size is on it at the moment?

right now its got a prather 215, i think the eqivalant to an octura x440.
ill make an estimation on a the next prop after i get my lipos and have a chance to run them.

Thats a good prop, you should get some good results with that, will be intresting to hear how it performs.
Keep us posted. ;)
