Chinese stuff and the Spartan
 

Hey people. It's been a while. I've been out of the hobby for a bit. But the darn RC bug just keeps bugging. I have some questions. It's been almost three years since I have ran a RC boat and I am exploring getting some gear again. I have a couple questions...

For starters, how's the Chinese hulls/hardware/motors and ESC's now? I know some of that stuff will always suck, but even a few years ago I got some nice Aircraft ESC's that I used for marine purposes from hobbycity.com and they worked well. Looks like they have some marine specific water cooled units now, as well as many more motors and what looks to be much nicer chargers. Not to mention, they have a TON of cats and mono's for sale. I like the idea of the aparition dual motor setup. Looks pretty cool. Also, they have some ULTRA cheap 2.4Ghz radios. Anyone use them before? How well do they work? 15$ for a 2.4Ghz setup is almost too good to be true.

Last thing. What in the heck happened with the Traxxas Spartan? I see almost nothing of the forums about it. Looks like it came out for a little bit and there was some issues with the ESC of motor? And then they just got pulled or something....???!!???

Nice to see people are still boating. I can't wait to retire from the Air Force one day and buy our lake house so I can run FE's all day long till I die. Maybe one day.... Maybe.....

The chinese items are not bad at all,Alot of the name brand is the same thing rebranded. "ie/venom"

the spartan imho its not the esc its the motor it cant handle 2x 3s lipos but im still testing i wont give up until the components do

I have read lots of good things about the GT3B, there is some forum somewhere they have made new firmware for it and it is as good/better then a spektrum.  I plan on getting one!<div>
</div><div>I also have a Genesis Cat from HK.  Great hull (I think, it's my first cat)  It fast and turns sharp.  I have however upgraded nearly everything in it.  Motor, ESC, and just about to put in a new flex cable.  All in all though, I can not complain.  I have spent less then I would for a Spartan and I can drive 40 MPH all day without a problem.  A simple motor and prop upgrade and it will push it into the 60's (I think.  It's still only running a 36 can)</div><div>
</div><div>As far as HK producs, you can't beat the turnigy Lipo's and marine speed controllers (120A 180A and 80A-hv) for the price.</div>
