SV27 wont stay in the water!
 

I took my SV27 to the lake today (1st time)
It was fairly calm. but I couldnt get the throttle above 3/4 cause she was jump out of the water. It landed upside down one time. Lucky some boys were eager to go get it for me. No damage, but whats the point of a super powerful boat when I cant use more than 75% of the power?

I figure that my issue may be largely due to the lipo batteries. Im sure the boat was setup for the weight of nimh packs and that my lipos are lighter and thus allowing the front to lift too much. even at 1/2 speed the front lifts and then slaps down (repettitive motion) very bad.

Now, Id assume that the tabs and parts on back with adjustments may cure the issue. but I am trying to sell the boat and dont really wanna mess with that stuff(and risk making it worse)
Can I add some weight ahead of the motor to counter-act the lighter lipo packs?

It also likes to "bog" when turning (rear staying to far down in the water)

I have never felt so "out of control" while driving an RC as with the SV27. This thing likes to be right on the edge 100% of the time.

any tips? is adding weight a good/bad idea? anyone wanna try and explain what the bits on the back do?

how much positive do you have on the strut (prop pointing up) ?

They handle pretty good if you actually take the time to learn how to set up a boat. Mine loves full throttle.
Boats aren't for everybody as you actually have to learn something and be ready to turn some wrenches and screwdrivers.

Is it the "R" version or the older version? Older version has the batteries mounted in the rear, R has them more centerally mounted....Mines the older version and I place my Lipos in a V formation in front of the motor..that with some proper strut and tab adjustments will sort things out, but only so much....I've had 3 SV's over the years, still fun boats, but they earned their nickname "superflip" for a reason.

- Here's some tips, if your trays are in the boat (old sv) remove them.
- Move your lipos further forward, I ran mine at the leading edge of the rails towards the motor mount
- A few oz of weight or a small gps unit just forward of the motor helps a lot
- Make sure the strut is neutral
- Tucking the rudder under the boat and round off the lower leading edge of the boat helps a lot
- I ran may trim tabs slightly up, The kintec trim tabs with the locking bolt are awesome the stock ones can bend and flex under running conditions.

I did not say Weight is not your friend,

I said adding weight is a bad idea.

A better idea is to move the weight to a new spot preferable to "centralize the mass".
