1/10 scale crackerbox scratch build
1 Attachment(s)
Hi evrybody, I have chosen to build a 1/10 scale crackerbox from Airage plans, as my first attempt at boat building after years of building airplanes. The hull is aprox. 20" long. I'm not sure about the weight just yet, but she's built mostly out of plywood, and balsa. I'm looking for advice on electricpower options for this little beast. Any and all ideas welcome. Thanks to all.</p> |

Not sure what to power it with, do you currently have any batteries or anything or are you starting from scratch? A 28x60mm leopard might be a good choice. Motor KV would depend on batteries, should spin a 35-37mm prop no problem. Kind of a half guess though, no experience with smaller electric boats.
Next summer if you're interested there is a group of us who run on Sundays in Peterborough just north of Trent U on River road pretty much all electric, think I'm the only one who still burns nitro around my area, although I'm just about all electric now. |

Pretty much starting from scratch. I have some batteries but nothing i think that could power this boat; only light aircraft. Should be fun though, to get up to Peterborough though, to meet a few people who run boats. I, like yourself, am a die hard nitro fan, but electrics do suit my needs as of late. Thanks for your post, and hope to hear some more ideas.

Mine is powered by a 05 can motor, spinning a 32mm prop. Also have one with jet power

I think I have one of those laying around somewhere. What size esc would you use on it? Does it need some big expensive marine esc? <div>Also, what about battery power?</div><div>

RE: 1/10 scale crackerbox scratch build
Water cooled esc and motor are smart choices.

Waterproof esc and rxs for crackerboxes as they flip alot due to semi-flat bottom. Been there, done that ( crackerboxes ).

I built 4, 1/10 and 5, 1/4 scale C boxes
