Best Revolt motor upgrade?
 

I have got a Seaking 120a and 6s set up right now,and was wondering what motor can handle the higher speed,have seen the Leopard 3674 2200kv mentioned...?

When you say higher speeds are you referring to increase rpm or the aquacraft not giving you the power you looking to achieve higher speeds. Can you make it a little clearer.

Well I was mainly wondering if the Aquacraft 1800 is working to too hard with 6s when moving at the higher rpm's when getting into the 50's,and with a more powerful motor would it not heat up as much and also gain some extra mph,so far I've got a gps top speed of 52mph with only one short test,still trying to find best trim settings,....also should I run separate water lines to motor and one for esc?..right now water intake goes to motor first then to Seaking 120a esc,but the motor will get hot but esc has stayed warm:)

have a look at the Turnigy xk 4074 - 2200 kv motor plus you will need the Turnigy 180 amp esc. if you feel the need for more water cooling you can either fit a Yfitting so the wtaer lines go to both motor and esc seperatly or try the water going to esc first then back to motor and out.

one other thing; where have you got the water inlet to motor ? at the bottom of motor or at the top ? if its at the top your not getting hardly any water in the cooling jacket to cool the motor properly.

Ok,just read up on other posts about the other motors,I will be thinking of getting a turnigy soon,but will be doing testing this weekend on my new trim adjustments...and maybe add that copper pipe water pickup...not sure how much drag effect it creates though: )

Right now for me, I have been soldering the esc wires to the motor, everything is a lot cooler now for me.

Kenneth, turnigy 4074 - 2200 kv specs; 3000 watts power - 120 amps max current - diameter 47 mm .
turnigy 3674 - 2200 kv specs; 1750 watts power - 70 amps max current - diameter 43 mm. both with cooling jackets.
i wouldn,t risk using a 120 amp esc with either motor , must use 180 amp.
is your propellor very sharp ? in pic it does look to be rather blunt but maybe thats the pic.
also as Patric said make sure you have very good connections at the plugs for both the battery to esc and the motor to esc. even if you fit better quality gold plated connectors .

Ok thanks,I haven't sharpened my prop real good,just a little,so I will sharpen it good,I think I soldered the 5.5 bullet connectors on good from esc to battery...I'll be thinking of which motor,but also,what trim adjustments help lessen chine walk?

I may try that too,soldering esc wires to motor!

a well trimmed boat hull doesn,t need trim tabs atall, start with the prop by giving it a good sharpening and you Must balance it. if you havn,t got a prop balancer buy one ,there cheap from H.K.

I sharpened my prop some more,I already balanced it and sharpened it a little from before,I've been getting 51 1/2 mph on a 6s 6200 35c....would I get more speed with a higher "C" rating?

your motor is still getting the maximum voltage from the 6 cell lipo pack, the 35c should be fine. your still running the stock prop so maybe work on a different prop like a slightly larger diameter and same pitch or the same diameter with abit more pitch. what size is your prop ?
also have you seen the vid of Patrick125 mono going ? its fast.

Yes I've seen Patrick 125's,real fast,will try props he mentioned,I'm using the stock Grimracer 42-55 prop,but I'm trying out the Grim 55-68 sharpened and balanced prop in the morning!

not familur with that brand of prop but is that 55 - 68 = 55 mm diameter etc ? if so just be carefull when you test the boat with that larger prop as it may draw alot more heat so just give it a quick 30 water and quickly bring the boat back in and feel the esc and motor. i would go by what Patrick is running etc as he knows alot more than i do. one other thing i forgot to mention regarding water cooling, blow through the rudder outlet nipple to make sure theres no machine burrs inside the drilled hole. i noticed with one of my rudders it was nearly fully blocked off with alloy shavings, luckily i checked before running.

you should get abit of water spraying up by the looks. prop blasting is quite effective and less drag on the hull .

Put extra inlet and outlet on,just got to put water line on to esc,got Goolrc 4082 1600kv motor on the way

You should be seeing close to 60mph with the stock motor on 6s
if you ran a X642 this bugger would scream !

I got the GoolRC 4082 1600kv motor,really fast and powerful...running real great...need to get a new gps speed meter to see top speed,seems to be getting to my goal of 60mph!!!

Check your strut angle and depth. Surface drives should be parallel to the peak of the hull and depth should be inline with the peak. If you you need a a lot of trim tab then you angle is off slowing you down.
