Hammer Problems?

Hey guys, my buddy just bought an aquacraft Hammer EP, to race agasint some of us that race our boats weekly. However as soon as we tried it for the first time, we had some problems. The issue is that the boat glitches like crazy. Out of the water, all the electronics, steering and motor, work flawlessly, yet when we placed it in the water to run it, it, the throttle would jitter and it would steer in all differant directions with no control whatsoever. Occasionally we could get it up to full throttle (quite fast on 6 cells), yet it would be very difficult to get it to stop, for it keeps going..
What is the problem here?

Has it gotten wet or anything? My Hammer the ESC flaked out in it and it was doing the same thing.

No, I mean this was stright out of the box, first run, the hull was completely dry.

Sounds like the radio, or reciever batts were weak,,, Or, the antenna wire (radio or reciever) has a problem, don't coil up any extra reciever wire.

Well see, that was what I first thought when he told it what was happening. But nothing worked.... For one thing the ESC has bec circuitry so it cant be wek voltage... Im at a loss, is it possible that excess voltage it traveling down the prop shaft, hitting the water and creating interference? I know that sounds outlandish, but I had that problem on one of my outboards.

RE: Hammer Problems?

red rocket, I've got the EP Hammer and the EXACT same thing happened to me. I thought I just got a bum radio system, then I switched it out for another one in a brand new EP Hammer and the same thing happened again. (Both were yellow boats if it makes a difference...what color is yours?). I even got a new motor, speed control, and new servo and it still happened.

I've got a thead on here in this forum and a few others about this problem. However, nothing worked short of going to a completely different radio system. I put in my JR XR3i FM radio and it works 99% flawlessly now.

Wow, this one was a yellow one too... you think all the yellows are defective!? That woudnt make sense, but I guess it's possible.[&:]

RE: Hammer Problems?

All of the yellow ones are on the same frequency, so I'm wondering if it's a bad batch of crystals. Try swapping out just the crystals.

I don't know if you caught it in the other thread, but so you know the stock size of the EP Hammer prop is 33mm in diameter and 55mm of pitch.

Nope never saw that, thanks tho. BTW, would it be more effective to return the hammer to our lhs, or change the crstals around? Its his boat and he'll go on his time, so w/e.

RE: Hammer Problems?

That's up to you, or him really. I don't know the EXACT cause of the problem, I just know that the only thing I never individually changed out were the crystals. After I put in the XR3i it runs glitchless.

RE: Hammer Problems?

Theres another forum on here about this problem. They seem to thing it is the coupler. Talk to aquacraft about it and they should tell you what you nede to do. I have the same problem and need to get it fixed to.
