Id go for a 700 and esc, 12 - 16 cells either a 700bb or a SS1 - a astro 207d is a versatile esc, no BEC or water cooling, but can handle 6-36 cells, is water resistant, on the other hand a Rc hydros Victory is 6-12 cell with bec and water cooling, water resistant again.

Batteries...unless you are competing dont waste your money on matched cells, some gp3300 sport packs will do, prop may be a tad bid, you might want to start with a prather 215 or a 220, or maybe a x438 - up to 445 ?

hardware, cant go past either fullers ot the FDM stuff looks pretty good, with a mono you want to get the prop out the back a little into clean water.. personally the esc id go with the astro as it gives you the ability to run more cells if you want to!

RE: FDM SETUP HELP?

I have the same boat. The setup is as follows:
Motor: FDM SS-1
Drivetrain: FDM gearbox at 1.38:1 ratio. Turbo strut, seperate rudder, with turn fin and trim tabs. I am currently using an Octura 447 prop.
ESC: Astro 212
Batts: 16 GP 3300
This is a very fast setup and takes a a little adjustment to get it going. I love it !
It would be a good idea to call Chris Fine and talk to him about your goal with this boat. He likes dealing with people over the phone so be prepared to talk a while...hehe.
Good luck with whatever setup you choose. jollyroger

thanks for the help, i went with a brushless motor and controller, this boat screams now!! im using a feigo 12xl and a barracuda 125 controller with a 42mm prop, going to try the x445 next. its fast though now, and that 16 cells and i can go to 20 cells, scary huh?
thanks again!
