speed vs size
I have the offshore cen racing aqua jet boat with 16cells and was wondering would a smaller boat go faster? This thing may be fast in a channel or small pond but on a lake its just to slow. I want it to get a little jump in the water when I punch it and get going really fast. The aqua jet just doesnt do it for me..
I was thinking smaller boat= less weight, less friction but less handling. Big boats are also awesome but im sure 16cells wouldnt get me above 40mph.. Whats ur guys opinion |
RE: speed vs size
There are 3 or 4 different aquajet setups, which one do you have. Aparently its not the extreme turbo version on 16 cells, because that boat on 16 cells will go about 35mph.
IF you have the 550 motor version then put the 700 motor in it and 16 cells and turn on the juice |
RE: speed vs size
The gecko will go about 50! I've seen a video of it once on here somewhere and its only about 9 inches long. Try www.finedesignrc.com
Plus people have put brushless motors like the castle creations motors in zig zags. Im not sure how fast they go but its gotta be wicked! |
RE: speed vs size
or try microhydros.com

RE: speed vs size
The turbo aqua jet is the ONLY one for 16cells so yes it is. Its not that fast. Considering my mammoth goes 50, I need something alot faster than a measly 30
Ima look at those links thanks |
RE: speed vs size
Why don't you start looking into a jet turbine engine? If you get the right set up, that should get you above 50.
PS Do you want to sell that boat that does a measly 30mph? |
RE: speed vs size
I want to stay in the electric area for boats. That way if I ever drive it at night I wont annoy people that live near by.
And ya I would eventually get rid of this boat, just when I dunno kinda hard to find a time to ship things when you work when the post office is closed |

RE: speed vs size
The problem with a little boat in a big lake (with small waves) is that it's going to spend a lot of time upside down or under water....especially if you are going to make it a really fast little boat. If you want speed on rough water you will have to go with a real deep V, not the shallow V of an AJ. You will also need for it to be 30+".
You could get a MHZ Lizard Xtreme hull and put an 800 motor in it with 24 cells and it should be pretty quick. If you want to go faster in light waves you'll have to go gas/nitro. |
RE: speed vs size
Any Idea on the speed of a Lizard with an 800 and 24 cells?
