Nothing new yet. I contacted CC yesterday to check on the esc I sent back for repair and they have not got to it yet. I still think the Mamba motor is too small though so it's going back to Tower Hobbies for a refund then later when I can afford it I'll get a Mega 400 from Hobby Lobby. I did find out I'm getting a 1/10 DuraTrax evader ep off road buggy for Xmas, some thing to play around with during the winter so the boat will wait till spring probably. You guys have a great Christmas.

Will Tower take back a motor that there isn't anything wrong with?

Yeah as long as it has not been used. They have a 'customer satisfaction' warranty so if you change your mind and it has not been used you can return it for a full refund. I believe that goes for everything they sell.

RE: Which brush less motor?

I did find this snippet on Castle creations site:

NOTE: The Mamba systems are capable of up to FIVE TIMES the speed and power of stock 1/18th scale power systems. As with any high-power capable electric system, the batteries you use will be the dominant factor affecting overall performance. In order to be capable of a large increase in performance over the stock system, the stock batteries and connectors must be replaced with high power capable cells and connectors. We recommend GP1100 cells, or packs made with GP1100 cells, and Deans Ultra connectors, for unlimited acceleration and best top speed. With lesser cells/packs, and with the stock connectors, the Mamba ESC will still operate fully and smoothly in almost all cases, but will limit acceleration so as not to overdraw and harm the batteries.

I realize that it isn't about boats, but should still apply. Raz, did you return the motor? I would still try less prop. The overall drive ratio in the RC18T (Where the Mamba makes it go 60mph) is only 2.5:1 so it isn't that seriously geared. Were you able to properly program the ESC? It can be confusing with the beeps, but they do offer a USB cable & software to properly set it up using your computer.

Just to let you know I bought the usb link for programming the Mamba and it is well worth it, it has graphs and you can set all the settings from the cool interface.

GRK, are you using the Mamba in a boat?

its definately the batteries, i have experianced this with rc micro cars and the mamba, it needs top of the line juice! if you use lipos around water dont let the water get them , they will be toast! that mamba esc isnt waterproof either, get that taken care of too or you will be sorry.
