Electrical problem?

I just purchased an RC boat, and whenever I plug in the batteries the motor starts. The speed control is off, as well as the transmitter. Does anyone have any idea as to what's wrong? There's nothing wrong with the wiring, I checked that.

It worked yesterday just fine, so I think the esc's ok. When I turn everything on the motor just keep going.

Make sure you switch everything on in the correct order:

1) transmitter
2) boat

Switching of in reversed order:

1) boat
2) transmitter.

If you had no problems yesterday, it's most likely the ESC has gotten wet, that might explain the things you mention...

BTW: which boat did you get? A picture and/or a link would be nice.

Regards, Jan.

when the back end of my villain went completely under water, the esc, even though it was fried, the motors ran full out. Try removing the esc and dismantling it as best as possible. Dry it out for at least 24 hours then try again.

It certainly isn't the only reason why it happens, but Jan's answer is probably the most common cause. Things should not be turned on in the wrong order. The simple causes are usually the ones that 'get' you the most often and usually the ones you tend to 'forget' (at least me, anyway). From there, it starts getting a bit more complicated. Simplest way of finding the problem is by substitution. ~IF~ you happen to have the proper thingy to substitute for each device in the circuit. But what if you don't have the thingy you need to substitue? You do what the rest of us do, ask questions and make guesses - LOL.
Good luck.

I took the esc out for awhile, then pluged it back in and it worked fine. Thanks for the help everyone. And it's a boat I got on ebay, I think its a Dumas wood kit, with a 15 turn motor and LRP F1 speed control.
