RE: motor for micro rigger

I'm using a 400DF 2600kv 15amps sold by http://milehighrc.com/brushless.html
with an 11.1v li-po
in a 13" and 13 oz. (with battery) rigger.

RE: motor for micro rigger

Geared or no gear. Also 11.1v for a 13" rigger! Its going to be a bullet not a boat. how many amps are you going to draw thru the speed controller with that setup

CadillacDTS2001 12-05-2006 07:38 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

not very many , like max 20 amps probably
i have a mamba in my 13 inch hydro with a 2 cell lipo

andrewhendler 12-05-2006 07:49 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

how many volts do your lipo's hit at max charge

CadillacDTS2001 12-05-2006 07:59 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

what lipo
i find the more MAH my lipo has the more volts it peaks at
i have a 2 cell1600 lipo , and a 2600 lipo and a 3 cell 1600 lipo
my 2 cells usually stop at 8.2 volts or so and my 3 cells can go up to 12 ish

are the sposon cores filled or sandwiched.
I was thinking of a 480 race motor but want to stay small. how tall is the motor on the mount

CadillacDTS2001 12-05-2006 08:14 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

MAMABA !

ralph289 12-05-2006 08:20 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

Sposons are sandwiched on mine, with one layer left out on each. Was told by the designer it will handle better that way, sure seems to.

RE: motor for micro rigger

the sidewalls on the tub are 1 3/4 inches tall. My plan is to install the motor and everything else, then sand the sides down to the top height of everything in the boat for a nice tight fit.

How bout some pics of your boat? If you have room it's hard to beat a 1.5 oz outrunner motor 2600kv with a 20amp esc and 1320mah 3 cell lipo but your talking some money here. What's your budget? You might want to go with a speed 400 setup. How fast do you want to go$$$$$$$. Let us know, we can help.

RE: motor for micro rigger

i have a question
can i get your hull in a carbon fiber lay up ?

Steve Elias 12-05-2006 08:43 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

Funny you should ask. Working on the mold as we speak. I was thinking fiberglass just from a cost standpoint. Don't know if anybody wants to spend the bucks for carbon on a boat this small. What do you think?

CadillacDTS2001 12-05-2006 08:46 PM

RE: motor for micro rigger

Well if a lot of people want it then go to fiber glass because of the money.
But personally i don't mind spending the extra money on a carbon fiber hull.
if you could do it in CF , that would be great.

RE: motor for micro rigger

I am lnterested in the fiberglass boat. I am actually learning glass this summer from a local guy. I want to try to provide fiberglass riggers that are american made. not going to go into production, just going to offer to some people in the hobby. But not going to be for a while, so yes let us know how your glassing for this boat is going.

I now must admit something here, this boat is not for me, its not even mine, but before you get upset let me explain...

This is a boat I am building for my girlfriend. Yes I was going to keep it slower but after she just saw the video on yor site she wants a brusless outrunner or the mamba system.
Iwas thinking of keeping it for myself but she would kill me if I did that.

So when you can sell a glass or carbon boat, let me know.

Lets shoot for $100.00 target without motor. Don't know labor or material cost yet.

I have a question for you riggers :) Is everyone using the offshoreelectric renegade rigger hardware? Is there other options? and why is the rudder mounted on the left not the right? Im building a baby rigger too but mine is not EP its nitro but real close to the same size as these, 15 3/4 transom to nose of tub. I have some pic posted in the winter rigger build if ya wanna check it out, Thanks Alot Everyone.
