Vector Push thingy
 

Hey, my Uncle just got my an NQD Tracer-2. My first ever boat! -squeals in happiness-
Anyway the problem is, I got a servo to work with the existing ESC, so when I turn right on
the trigger it turns right on the server. Okay, but when I press the throttle on the trigger,
I just hear this clicking sound. Do you have any idea what this is? I mean I'm so happy
I got the servo working, but now the throttle isn't. And it's so frustrating. I even cut of the
wires of one of the motors and only leave one motor connected, but it still didn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Its going to be very difficult if possible at all. We really need a wiring diagram of the esc. The best thing to do would be to get a new esc.

since you have installed a servo and a rudder. why not just ditch the stock radio system and upgrade it to a cheap 2 channel tx and get a esc. vector push sucks

Its not that Vector push sucks... its just different..
I mean I got my NQD to work with Two ESC's one on each motor and it Worked Great Throw one motor forward and the other Backward for some insane Stunt boating..


A Rudder system is just way more efficient as you aren't running Two motors at a time and dont loose speed when turning

"If you can afford it" then replace the esc in addition.. That is the reason, all the fast race boats, there built from the hull up.. People like to know whats in them, and know that they were built right...

Since this sounds like an older boat, replacing, would be your best bet..

Ah, the thing is that I'm really broke. And the stuff are expensive. I've been looking for a cheap esc and radion system, but can't find any. I don't have any pictures yet, but will post it really soon. But the ESC is stuck together with the Rx aswell. So I can't tell what's what.

I know what you mean....the esc and rx are in the chip right?? I had an NQD highwind...really wasnt that good, motors were smokin only 2 minutes into my forst run....if i an correct, the thing doesent have servos, just two things that look like servos attached to the radio box, there really just two samll esc;s that control when to fire both or one motor.....I can tell you this right away...the boat will be fun for the first few weeks, but then it just becomes a BIG pain!

I ended up gutting the boat and using the only herdware for a rescue boat...that didnt work either....when i had the clicking sound, the esc stopped working after that....i say get a cheap esc (that can handle the two motors) and a real servo so you can add a rudder an make it a lot better....i just hope your budget can handle it.....

I just hope you can get this thing worked out...did you get the esc wet?? are there proper connections to the motors??

If you really want to fix this, get a new 2 channel radio transmitter, receiver, new esc and motor(s), and a servo and rudder and you might just have a boat way better than the origional....

I don't think theres a person here that wouldn't agree with that and it doesnt matter how big your boat is, they all suck money proportionately to their size :)

yep, just as i expected...that radio board....i always hated mine.....youll probably need a new one, although it would be better if you use a a regular esc, servo, motor setup...

Magnat, I'm sorry but Vector push does suck and bad.
What connections did you use to hook up the servo. If you used one of the motor connections, then thats not going to work. You need a servo connection for the servo. A normal (nice) receiver will have a port for receiver battery pack, servo and esc. The esc will have the wires for the motor and battery.

That is the case for many of us, don't feel bad..

You save up, just to fix your boat again..

Hi, the Tracer-2 is a decent toy-standard boat. However RC-standard equiptment and toy-standard electronics don't go hand-in-hand. Was your servo used to control a rudder? You didn't really specify and that's the only use of a servo I can think off.

IMO, the best bet will be

1) Get a cheap AM radio.
2) Use an ESC to power both motors (wired parallel). Just make sure the ESC can deliver enough amps for the job. You'll also have to make sure one of the motors are hooked the opposite way compared to the other. This is because it will need to counter-rotate. Look at the props and you'll have an idea which motor is to be hooked up this way.
3) Install a rudder (you probably has done this already).

You'll get decent speeds with the above configuration. Most importantly, you'll have good throttle control and good cornering speeds. If you crave for even faster speeds, there are too many things that needs to be done and it will cost you a bomb.
