SuperVee Glitching Problems
We have a small club with about 7 SV's out of the 7 about 5 are or were having glitching problem, 3 changed to FM and glitching has been stopped. Just curious how many out there are running the STOCK transmitter & recever or have change or are having glitching problems. There are all fairly new boats and no water has gotten into the radio box.

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
My first boat was totaled when the radio glitched. Went WOT into a concrete shoreline. Would respond to any input at all. It was replaced under warranty and I have the new one up on and FM Futaba.

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Welcome to the Futaba AM glitching club:D I have had two of these radios on different boats and they both glitched.

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
It is a shame that the maker chose to use a cheap AM radio with the SV, but it is easy to understand why - lower entry cost. AM radios regardless of brand are poor choices for BL-powered boats....they are more prone to interference and have limited clean range. Upgrading to at least an FM radio should be mandatory, and DSM is probably better. I had glitching problems with my FM radio and switched to a Spektrum - zero problems.
There are several things you can do to reduce AM glitching in a boat like the SV. Do not rely on the BEC, use a separate receiver pack in the boat. Make sure the transmitter pack is fully charged/changed often - do not rely on the meter on the transmitter to tell you if the pack is okay. Move the receiver and antenna as far as possible from the motor, packs and power wires. Keep any radio wiring - servo and ESC leads especially - as far away from the motor/packs/power wires as practical. . |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Intended on changing the radio system before I even recvd the boat. I ran the stock radio one day. I had glitching and signal loss with every revolution around my lake.
Have installed Spektrum. No more problems. |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
first thing i done to my boat was ripping out the crappy tx and rx and use a hitec srx agressor with a spektrum module and rx.

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems

:eek:Hey i found this old FM Hitec Lynx think i should put it in my new super V27.....should be better than the stock am ...?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Shen, what did you pay for it? You will need an FM receiver too, and by all means get the dual conversion receiver! I had glitching trouble with my Lynx3D with the single conversion receivers. The duals are more expensive, but well worth it.

Hi i had it laying around It has the stock FM reciever that cam with it....
Will this work or will it still get interfearance? I have this but i don't want to buy another non crystal reciever for it and i always found i get my boat radios dirty alot and don't want this one to get messed up. |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Looks like we are not alone with the glitching problem, I am trying a new servo in my SV tomorrow but I'm just about sure it's not going to help and I will be on the computer ordering a FM unit when I get home [:@]

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Well after about 3 hours down at the lake I found the problem with my
SuperVee. It would run fine with STICK (end to end) batteries but as soon as I ran FLAT (side by side) pack batteries it would start glitching. Sounds CRAZY I know. Tried it with SIX different battery sets and ALWAYS glitched with FLAT packs only ! Finally used a friends FM receiver and Transmitter and boat ran fine with ANY type battery pack. I also tried the STICK type in a friends Supervee and his ran fine. So by what I can tell I believe my transmitter & receiver is the problem (ran fine with FM) maybe it just need to be fine tuned or something but there is something definitely wrong with it. I will ship it out tomorrow for warranty repair but I also ordered a Futaba FM setup for the SV tired of messing with this problem. Bet you never heard this problem before !! |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
I used a side by side pack in my profisherman with the SAME radio and it always glitched.
|
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Yes I'm sure it not a very good Transmitter and receiver, but it is a GREAT boat ! But my problem sure is strange !
|
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
You should have tried rotating the stock reciever 90deg in the oposite direction...or laying it on it's side or something that might have worked.
|
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Yes that is a good idea, didn't think of that. Had so many things going through my mind on this problem. Well I for sure won't have any problems with the FM set-up. One less thing to worry about .

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
ORIGINAL: shenlonco You should have tried rotating the stock reciever 90deg in the oposite direction...or laying it on it's side or something that might have worked. So you rotate your rx 90 deg and put the boat in the water to test fate and all of a sudden your boat takes off and hits the brick wall or dock and smash [:@] need I say more. Or how about this, you run your boat till your warranty runs out and all of a sudden one day while you are running your boat in a lake you never ran it in before that has some interference and same as above. Just take the knowledge you have, that some people have had boats get smashed because of a radio glitch and that some people have not had problems at all and make the decision of what you want to do. To be or not to be, that is the question. |
RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Good point Wheelnut, That is why I'm going FM. Just can't trust the way the Stock set up is working. Better safe then sorry !

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
:DAnother good idea that works is to use one of the bags for sensitive electronics anti static bag put your reciever in it and it won't let outside electronic static electric waves interfear with it... this worked for me on some of my RC cars.

RE: SuperVee Glitching Problems
Thats an interesting theory, but it does not eliminate the fact that your antenna is still the main part of the receiver that receives the interference.
No sometimes it's the parts on the reciever board this is why with RC Cars or nitros they say if you get interfearance try standing the reciever on its side rather than flat ...I did the trick above a few times and it worked. |
