RE: paint in progress
That's pretty creative. I can't do that with vinyl.

RE: paint in progress
I like it. I'm not too keen on the black stripes though. Love the gears. I also think that the canopies need a windshield painted on.
Man, I wish I could paint like that. |

RE: paint in progress
thanx, I am not yet though, I am going to pin stripe the flames green and maybe transparent red fade over the rear end to tone down the gears. I put it in the forum half way done cuz some times you just get tired of looking at your work and need a fresh eye to say hey! try this instead, you know? I been using the gears a bit much on other stuff and they feel hoeky to me, but know one else has seen this thing and I was not sure of what to do on it next or what folks thought

RE: paint in progress
Just about any auto parts store carries Dupli Color. I usually wet sand with 600 and then use their Clear over the final job. It's not needed, but if you do multi colors, the wet sanding will knock down the crisp edges between them and the clear will also help protect the finish. Just use light tack coats initially and slowly build 2 or 3 coats.
If you have an air brush, Auto Air Colors has some really fantastic water based automotive grade paint that pros are using for custom paint and graphics. It, too can be cleared with Dupli color clear on a model. It can be purchased in 4oz. bottles, too. It's not expensive... http://www.autoaircolors.com/index.htm http://www.autoaircolors.com/images/ACCOLORSET.jpg |
RE: paint in progress
Thanks, I wish i had an airbrush. is there any fairly cheap ones? I allready have a compressor that will work.

RE: paint in progress
pache` (SPELLING) make some. But when you get one. Go for the good one. Its a one time investment that will benefit for a long time. Make sure it is double action airbrush. The single actions aren't that good for fine detail.

RE: paint in progress
The best prices on air brushes I have found is a place right here in my home town. They also have a hugh internet presence. When I was searching/researching product and price, I ran across them. I have the Iwate Eclipse HP-BCS and have been pleased with it.
http://www.dixieart.com/Eclipse.html They also handle AutoAir colors at very good prices. These are water based/automotive grade paints used by professional custom painters and do a fine job on my boats. I use a good clear over them and it's a wrap. They are easy to deal with and easy to clean up and have a good color selection, too. Check 'em out. http://www.dixieart.com/CreatexAutoAir.html |

OC . . the ecl 4500 ( CS) is a very good airbrush.

RE: paint in progress
If I got more use out of mine, I'd consider and upgrade, but the BCS has been doing a good job on boats, bikes, helm uts, and anything else I have asked of it.
