micro surface drive
i really hate to ask this question, i did a search and it was pretty fruitless... im building a dumas short stuff deep vee (18"length, 6.25" beam), and ive been looking for a .125 surface drive and rudder combo for it.i saw a combo with an adjustable drive with an offset rudder and all of the hardware, but i cant find it anymore!!!! im not looking to break any speed records here, im going to be running a brushed motor at first and if everything goes well, ill switch up to a brushless later.. thanks for any input or links!!!!!
nate sanders ps- theres still time here in northern japan, most of the ponds are still liquid!!! |
RE: micro surface drive
whay is it labeled micro ?
depending on what motor . you can use a .098 flex |
RE: micro surface drive
i want .125 just in case!! first off the boat will more than likely be a tad on the heavy side and i dont want to risk breakage.

RE: micro surface drive
what motor are you running. I have run a lehner XL on a .098 on 8 cells with no problem.

RE: micro surface drive
ok, ill play your game, where did you purchase your surface drive? the one you describe with .098 flex? i dont have a motor yet, im doing research as to what ill need, i want between 15+mph. whats your suggestion for a motor? this is the first boat kit i have built, so as you can imagine, i dont have much experience as what to use...the only thing i had before this was a 1/10 dpi crackerbox, not exactly a best first boat because of their ill handling and being known as a drivers boat, it didnt suit me well..lol..thanks!!

you can use a 550 motor for 15 mph. just a stock johnson.
or you can use 600. |

RE: micro surface drive
there is a dimension. 1/8th
SO when you get a flex shaft buy it with a 1/8th inch stub. |
RE: micro surface drive
im done with you dude, youre a smartass.... im new to the hobby and you talk to me like im a freshman at a frathouse....
|
RE: micro surface drive
Be sure that when you buy it you get the rite flex shaft size. Because the Teflon tubing that goes in it might be to big or to small for it.
Sorry you fell that way . I'm helping and was pointing you you have a dimension to work with. |
