power suply question
i have a Hitec CG335 12V charger and its charge up to 24 cells, i try looking for a power suply so i charge my battery indoor, i found one on ebay, its acomputer power suply input 110-220V of couse, output is 12V at 16A, is that enough for my 12Vcharger for 24cells?

RE: power suply question
It will depend on the rate (or power) you will charge at. Sometimes pc power suplies will only output about half of the rating as well. Even if it did half the rating then it can power up to 100 watts or so and the charger's max is probably well below that so itm should work fine.

RE: power suply question
I work in electronic manufacturing and we have used these supplies in test for years. I bought one off Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-14-AMP-REGUL...QQcmdZViewItem What I like is the fact that it will supply 14A at that price! You don't see many powerful/cheap power supplies. |
RE: power suply question
I have had very good results with computer power supplies. If you are converting it yourself, make sure to put the load on the 5v line though. I used a trailer light and it works great. The biggest thing I have tried to charge was a 12v battery at 5 amps through a Triton charger. It worked fine for that. I have never tried to charge 24 cells before, but the Triton is rated for it.
There is a link to an excellent write up on converting power supplies at www.rcbatteryclinic.com. Scroll the left menu all the way to the bottom. Good luck! |
